How To Live A Healthy Life by John Cali

My spirit guides often have wise advice for those of us still in physical bodies. Here’s a summary of their advice for living a healthy life.

  • Meditate regularly. It doesn’t have to be a long time. Regularity is more important than length.
  • Pay attention to your breathing. Your breath is your most powerful connection to your soul. That’s why conscious breathing and meditation go well together.
  • Pay attention to what you put into your physical body. Eat food as close as possible to its natural state.

Spiritual Teachers by John Cali

I recently read a great article by Ed & Deb Shapiro called Are You a Spiritual Window Shopper?

John Cali

The Miriam-Webster Dictionary’s definition of “window-shop” is “to look at the displays in retail store windows without going inside the stores to make purchases.”

The term has taken on a new slant these days with so many people wanting to know who they are and why they’re here. There are plenty of spiritual teachers out there, many of them excellent. And some wanting to convince us their way is the only way.… Read more

Separation by John Cali

Jean Horn, another of our dear friends, recently posted an article she wrote on our Spirit Forum. It’s a thought-provoking piece called “From Inside Creation We Peek Out.”

One of Jean’s comments was particularly powerful for me:

“One cannot look within the mirror and hate oneself, for in doing so we hate all things. The pain we feel is the separation from that which we truly are.” (Emphasis is mine.)

Here’s part of my reply to Jean:

“Separation from ourselves is the source of all pain.… Read more

Right and Wrong by John Cali

I recently heard a wonderfully wise and witty speech by Brene Brown. She talked briefly about religion:

“Religion has gone from a belief in faith and mystery to certainty. I’m right, you’re wrong, shut up.”

That superior condescending attitude applies not only to religion, but also to other areas of our modern society. Politics, for example. And even personal relationships.… Read more

Is Food Your Friend or Foe? by John Cali

There are so many articles about food on the internet today, it’s often mind-boggling. The articles cover just about every food subject you can imagine: dieting (a big one), additives, preservatives, processing, genetic modifying, vegetarianism, etc. etc.

Are you confused? I can certainly understand if you are. Even the “experts” seem confused at times. I’ve got friends and family who analyze their food endlessly before they dare to take a bite. I used to be that way myself. I’m a vegetarian now, and that certainly makes things a little simpler.… Read more

Affirmations from Spirit by John Cali

Every now and then, my spirit guides suggest affirmations to me and also to others, especially in private readings. Here are a few recent affirmations:

  • My body will last as long as I choose to live.
  • It will be in good health until the day I die.
  • I have an abundance of money.
  • If the flow of money to me slows to a trickle, I know there’s much more coming to me.
  • I am “lucky” in so many ways.
  • Whatever I need always comes to me.

Connection by John Cali

One day many years ago, as I was getting off an airplane from a long cross-country flight, the stewardess (they called them that back then) at the exit door bid me a friendly goodbye. Our eyes met and locked for just a few seconds.

There was nothing sexual about the encounter. But for those few seconds I was riveted by her beautiful blue eyes. It was an exhilarating experience, so memorable I can still see her across all the years.Read more

Do You Know Who You Are? by John Cali

Kirk Douglas, legendary American actor and icon, told a thought-provoking little story some years ago.

Kirk was driving down the freeway in southern California when he spotted a young man hitchhiking. He pulled over and the youngster jumped in.

It was only after he was in the car that he took a look at Kirk. With a shocked expression on his face, he blurted out  “Do you know who you are?”… Read more

Grief by John Cali

A little over five years ago my sister Christine’s husband Dick died at a relatively young age, after a ten-year struggle with a devastating disease.

John Cali

Dick and Christine were happily married for 26 years. Dick, a warm, caring man, was a beloved family member. He was like a brother to me. As you’d expect, everyone was sad and there was the usual grieving.

But even at the funeral, instead of focusing on Dick’s illness and death, we talked about his life, the wonderful memories over so many years, all the happiness he and Christine had found together.… Read more
