A few weeks ago I was heading back to my car after a long walk in the foothills south of my little mountain town.

As I neared my car, I heard a man’s voice crying, "Henry, Henry!"

I glanced off to my left and there was this furry little creature furiously running toward me. I bent down to greet him as he practically threw himself into my arms, tail wagging wildly and mouth parted in a joyous, laughing doggy grin.

I picked up the puppy as his owner came running up, happy to see I’d captured his fugitive, wayward pet.

As I chatted with the owner for a few moments, I remarked what a good-natured, loving little dog he had there. He replied, "Well, he’s not too bright." Then, after a pause, he added, "But he’s happy."

I said to myself, "What a magnificent inspiration and example for us humans that little pup is!"

Maybe the little guy isn’t the brightest of canines. But he knows what life was all about–joy. He’s happy.

Chief Joseph

Happiness–that is the goal of all humans, is it not? And yet for many of you it indeed seems an elusive goal.

Oh, you get "bits and pieces" of happiness as you plod your earthly paths. But many of you settle for only the bits and pieces.

There is so much more than bits and pieces of happiness–you can be happy and joy-filled in every waking moment of your earthly lives. Did you know that?

Your natural state, even while you are in human form, is happiness. Your higher self wants you to be happy all the time. The Great Spirit wants you to be happy all the time. The Universe wants you to be happy all the time.

Do you know what happens when you’re happy?

In every moment where you feel deep joy, where you feel insanely happy, you are–at that moment–fully who you truly are. You are fully connected to your higher self, the Great Spirit, and the Universe.

And, in your deep joy and insane happiness, you are radiating powerful waves of energy out into the entire Universe. You positively influence the world immediately around you, the entire planet, all your sisters and brothers, all living creatures great and small.

That is how powerful you, one single soul standing alone, are.

You can literally change the course of your human history standing alone–and simply by being happy.

Being happy is the best possible gift you can ever give to yourself, to your fellow humans, to your planet, and to us in these dimensions.

We love to see you happy. If you did nothing more for the rest of your lives than to simply seek to be happy in every aspect of your lives, you will have more powerfully and profoundly influenced and blessed humanity than all the great historic figures you revere put together.

That’s how powerful you are, all by yourself.

The beasts of your planet are often great teachers for you. The little pup John spoke of is such a teacher. You can do no better than to follow that little creature’s example.

Be happy! It’s good for you. It’s good for us all.
