How important is it for you to stay connected with your
friends, family, co-workers, etc.? Probably pretty important, and rightly so.
But for many folks I observe in my work with Chief Joseph, it's so important
they've lost their ability to truly enjoy "alone time."
John Cali
I often marvel at the technology we have today.
It enables us to achieve things undreamed of just a few short years ago. For
example, Chief Joseph and I could not do this newsletter if it were not for the
technology we have literally at our fingertips. We are blessed to have all these
amazing tools.
As much as I depend on technology for my work,
I'm not thrilled by all technology. I do not have a cell phone, television
service, music player, video game player, or any of the other electronic marvels
so popular today. Many of which enable folks to stay continuously connected with
each other and the whole world.
Microsoft's Bill Gates gave the keynote speech
at last week's International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This year Microsoft is promoting what it calls the "connected
experience." As Gates said, "Our ambition is to give you connected
experiences 24 hours a day."
I don't want to be connected to the whole world
24 hours a day. Do you?
Here's Chief Joseph.
Chief Joseph
Let's start out on a "light" note
here. John did not mean connections are not important. They are -- obviously.
Without connections your modern would not function as well as it does. And yes,
it is functioning well, despite the challenges and the doomsayers.
But what we see happening in your world today is
so many of you becoming so dependent on your connections. There are some of you
who think you need constant, continuous contact with the world around you.
So you have radios or television sets blaring in
the background, you're constantly on the phone, you check your email every three
minutes, and so on. You get the idea.
While your modern technology offers you many
powerful advantages, it is not the idol you have created it to be.
It is a tool -- a powerful one, but still just a
tool. A tool to help you live your lives in a more joyful, connected manner. But
when the tool becomes the god, then you lose sight of what your lives are all
about. You lose sight of the tool's purpose.
We know staying connected with each other is
important to all of you reincarnated on your Mother Earth today. We acknowledge
the value of that. And we would never say it is of no value.
What we do say, however, is the connection most
important for all of you is the one you have with you. With your human
selves and your higher selves.
What we see happening today with your technology
is you losing sight of your connection with you. You don't make the
effort to spend, in John's words, "alone time." You lose sight of who
you really are, of why you are here, of your life's purpose.
The only way -- the only way -- you will
ever be empowered to maintain a true connection to all that is important to you
is to first maintain a connection to you -- your
higher selves, your Goddess/God selves.
Until you achieve and maintain that
all-important connection, you will never be able to connect with others in any
meaningful way.
You do not have to be connected 24/7, as you
say, with others or with the whole world. But you do have to be connected 24/7
with you.
When you can do that, you will have no problem
maintaining your connections to the world around you, and to everyone and
everything in it. You will keep those connections in their proper perspective,
seeing them for their true value -- not more, not less.
The key to staying connected to your world is to
first stay connected to yourselves.
You do not need cell phones, television, email,
etc. to live a joyful life. Those are wonderful tools in your world today. But
they are not the idols you often make them out to be. They are simply tools.
You do not need to be in touch with everyone and
everything all the time. What you do need is to be in touch with you
all the time.
Then all else will fall into place easily and
effortlessly.

Since 1992, John Cali has been communicating with a
non-physical entity called Joseph. In one of his many physical lifetimes, this
spirit was incarnated as the legendary Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe in
what is now the state of Oregon in the northwestern USA. These messages are a
blend of information from Joseph, other spirits in the "Joseph group,"
and John.
John can be reached by email here
