Alternate Realities

Recently, Berna and I were having one of our daily chats about spirituality.

She told me she was planning to visit a close friend of hers. I asked her about this friend’s neighborhood, as I remembered it from our recent visit—the red brick buildings with many big trees, large grassy expanses, and other details. Berna knew the area well.

Then she said she and I had never been there together. I was, to put it mildly, surprised! I asked her if my description of the neighborhood was accurate.Read more

The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren’t any space aliens. We can’t be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we’re not all that is. If so, we’re in big trouble. ~ Ellen DeGeneres

This week we’re featuring an article by my dear friend, Ted Murray. Ted’s an accomplished writer and spiritual teacher. He’s also a great tennis coach.

In Ted’s message today he raises a powerful and timely question, one that should concern every one of us.Read more

To see the earth as it truly is, small and blue and beautiful in that eternal silence where it floats, is to see ourselves as riders on the earth together, brothers on that bright loveliness in the eternal cold. ~ Archibald MacLeish

The past couple of months I’ve been looking through my old files from when I first started channeling years ago. I came across this short message we’re publishing today.

Of course, I and my channeling have changed and grown since those early days.Read more

Accept who you are and the power of your might. ~ Lailah Gifty Akita, Founder of Smart Youth Volunteers Foundation

One of the most basic questions we all have is “Who am I?”

You’ve probably heard it said we are  not only in the universe, be we are the universe. The Sanskrit expression, “Aham brahmasmi,” means “I am the universe, and the universe is me.”

Many of us probably think that’s a  nice thought, but we don’t really believe it’s literally true.Read more

There Is No Such Thing As Objective Reality by John Cali and Spirit

We’ve all heard it said we create our own realities. But what exactly does that mean? And how do we do it?

Spirit

First, let’s start this discussion with who each of you really are. Or, more to the point, who you are not.

You are not:

  • Your body
  • Your mind
  • Your family identity
  • Your ethnic background
  • Your job, your profession
  • Father
  • Mother
  • Son
  • Daughter
  • And so on

You are not any of those labels you use to identify yourselves while you are in your physical bodies.… Read more

When Things Go Wrong, Let the Universe Take Over by John Cali and Spirit

Appearances often are deceiving. ~ Aesop

This past week I had an early-morning appointment. When I went out to my car, it was completely dead—no battery power at all. The battery was brand-new. At first, I started moaning, “Why me?” But I quickly caught myself and stopped that line of thinking dead in its tracks.

Why not me? I knew there was a good reason for this unpleasant surprise. I knew it was something other than what it appeared to be.Read more

Everything Always Works Out For Me: Sequel by John Cali and Spirit

I’m still travelling, and so this post is another brief one. They’re all likely to be short till I return home again.

As I’d mentioned in an earlier article, my son and his family are in Kiev in Ukraine. If you’ve seen much recent news, you know the situation there is explosive, to say the least.

His mother and I are understandably concerned with our son’s safety—also with the safety of his family and everyone else involved in this situation.Read more

It’s All Within You by John Cali

Recently I was facing a difficult challenge, not knowing how to resolve it. It was nothing earth-shaking or life-threatening, but vexing nonetheless.

After thinking about it a few days it dawned on me I was looking for the solution in all the wrong places.

Here’s Spirit:

There’s a Sanskrit mantra John loves: “Aham Brahmasmi.”

The English translation of the mantra goes something like this: The center of my being is the ultimate reality—the source of all that is.

Think about that for a moment.Read more

What Is God? by John Cali

Have you ever asked yourself that question? I have, many times.

I grew up in the Roman Catholic tradition. We were taught God was a loving father, and also a harsh judge. We had this confusing notion of a divine being whose love or wrath would engulf us, depending on whether we did his “will” or not.

Heaven was our reward and hell our punishment—not a pleasant way to live your life, never knowing where you were ultimately going to end up for all eternity.Read more

You Are the Universe by John Cali

There’s an expression in Sanskrit, “Aham brahmasmi.” It means “I am the universe and the universe is me.”

My spirit guides have often said we are not our physical bodies. However, most of us identify the person we call “I” with our physical bodies. So if we are not our bodies, who are we? Where are we? What are we?

If the Sanskrit expression is right, and I believe it is, then whatever we perceive to be “out there” is really in here, within each of us.Read more

Materializing, Dematerializing, and Other Illusions by John Cali

I’ve always been fascinated by this subject. But I didn’t really believe it was possible. That is, until I saw it happen right before my eyes.

One day many years ago I was leaving my office to go home. I went to my car, reached in my pocket for my car key. It wasn’t there. I looked in the driver’s side window, and there was my key, still in the ignition. Since I locked all the doors, I had a problem.… Read more

Going with the Flow of Life by John Cali

I was brought up in the Judeo-Christian tradition, as I know many of you were. We were taught the only road to success was hard work through pain and struggle. I bought into that perspective for much of my life. But no more.

Here’s Spirit.

We talk with many humans struggling in so many aspects of their lives — work, relationships, health, even their spiritual paths. It does not have to be this way. As we’ve said many times, you certainly can grow through struggle and pain.… Read more

Love Is a Choice by John Cali

Many years ago Spirit gave me their definition of love, and it’s the definition I’ve stayed with ever since: “Love is a choice to see the divinity in all beings.”

So what does that really mean?

For me, it means love is not a feeling, an emotion – which is the way I used to view it. And many folks still do. Certainly we feel emotion around a person or an animal we love. But true love goes beyond the feelings, the emotions.… Read more

Wind In the Willows by John Cali

John Cali

That title is from an old Christmas song of the same name. Though I am no longer Christian, I love the song’s lyrics. They convey a positive, uplifting message of love and joy.

The song’s story is about Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, and their travels all over the world bringing a message of peace and joy to all who would listen. The story is clearly fictional, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is the message.

Here’s the heart of the message:

“With the wind in the willows and the birds in the sky, there’s a bright sun to warm us wherever we lie.… Read more
