Did you ever wish you could know what the future holds? I sure did—I spent most of my younger years planning every detail of my life, present and future. How deeply I yearned for certainty, for that sure knowing everything would turn out exactly as I wanted.

Talk about an exercise in futility! I finally learned to embrace not knowing what the future held—to embrace the certainty of uncertainty.

It is gorgeous weather. Not too hot, not too cold and practically no wind. I am sitting on a bench in the park. This is not just a bench. It is located on my favorite spot, under a beautiful aged oak tree. A lark shrills his joy about the summer. The trees around me radiate and tell me they are healthy and are being taken care of very well by the rain, which is falling regularly, and by the plentiful sunshine.Read more

One of my all-time greatest heroes is Nelson Mandela. He showed us the impossible is possible if we never give up.

After the devastation of the hurricane named after St Jude I decided to do a little research on what qualities make a saint.

Initially it was a term of greeting for those in Jesus’ inner circle, otherwise known as his disciples.  After this it was used for people who suffered through following their faith.  Saint-hood is associated with those who devote their life to their beliefs, often entering a monastery or religious order.  Some lived alone, away from the pressures of society. Read more
