Be Yourself by John Cali

One of my favorite quotations is from Pablo Picasso. Here’s how it went:

“My mother said to me, ‘If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general. If you become a monk, you’ll end up as the pope.’ Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.”

John Cali

Maybe I’m taking some liberties here in interpreting what Picasso meant. But I’d like to think he was saying he’d much rather be himself, doing what he loved, than to be a general or a pope.

And in being himself, he became great and touched many people’s lives.

If only we all felt that way about ourselves.

Here’s Spirit.

Spirit

Most of you have forgotten how to be yourselves. Many of you don’t even remember who that self is. Yet that self is the greatest part of you. It is your greatest treasure. It is your key — the secret — to living the life of your dreams.

When you are authentically yourself you live authentically. And you live free.

When you are authentic and free you will know a bliss, an ecstasy like you’ve never known in this lifetime.

You will find doors opening, opportunities magically appearing, seemingly out of nowhere. You will find a peace and joy and power that will carry you wherever you want to go.

Most importantly, being yourself will touch and transform your life — and the lives of all those around you — in ways that will amaze and empower you, and them.

It’s so simple — just be yourself!
