Destined To Deteriorate by John Cali

The other day an old friend and I were talking about the many blessings we have in our lives. Then, somehow, our conversation drifted to a “fact of life” we all must face, assuming we live long enough — growing old.

My friend — I’ll call him “Jack” — is an upbeat, positive, happy guy. He has much to be thankful for — work he loves, financial abundance, a happy marriage, a loving family, good health. Everything most folks aspire to.

When we started talking about growing old Jack, who’s quite a bit younger than I am, said he was already seeing signs of Alzheimer’s disease in himself. He sure had me fooled! I’ve had plenty of people in my family with Alzheimer’s, and I know the signs. Jack had none of them.

Yet he was convinced he was destined to deteriorate.

I have no doubt he will, given his belief that aging equals deterioration. But it ain’t necessarily so! We don’t have to fall apart as we grow older. Here’s what Spirit has to say:

“Your physical bodies are such magnificent mechanisms. Most of you neither understand nor appreciate your bodies. You do not see them as we do, as your higher selves do.

“We don’t know exactly where or when along your physical paths you lost the clear, loving vision you had once for your bodies. But you have lost it.

“Even your scientists say your bodies are capable of living far longer than what you consider a ‘normal’ lifespan. Few of you ever realize that capability.

“Instead, you have somehow been convinced, ‘brainwashed’ into believing your bodies must inevitably deteriorate with the years. And most of you believe you have to die of ‘something.’

“If you don’t get yourselves killed by an ‘accident,’ or an ‘act of God,’ then you just know you will die of some ‘age-related dis-ease.’

“If you expect your bodies to fall apart with the years, they will. They must. Because you are all powerful creators, because you create what you focus on.

“Yet it is entirely within your power to move through the years — you cannot avoid that — but without deteriorating. It is entirely within your power to die in a state of perfect health. A state of feeling good, feeling joyful, at the peak of perfection.

“You, as your higher selves, know how to do this. You, as your human selves, have forgotten.

“You can live a joyful, abundant life of many years. Then, when you decide you’ve done it all, seen it all, you can choose to move on without pain, sorrow, or sickness.

“It can be that easy.”

It’s obvious many people really do deteriorate as they age. But is it inevitable? What are your beliefs and thoughts? Please comment below.

How true and inspiring! Thank you, John, for reminding us that we’re meant to be healthy
until we transition to another realm.
Deepak Chopra invites us to repeat 5 times a day: “Every day in every way, I am increasing my physical and mental capacities. My biological clock is set at a healthy … (20 or more younger.) I look and feel a healthy …”
Since I’ve learned about how glutathione is what keep us young and healthy, protecting us against illness and aging naturally, I do believe that I don’t look and feel 72 because my biological clock is set at a healthy 50! These unique Max products that can enhance this essential antioxidant in every one of my cells have started to improve my MS condition because “glutathione is a smart molecule that knows what to do and gets busy doing it, correcting whatever imbalance a person may have.” (For more info look at max.com/350399)

You’re most welcome, Fern. And thank you for your comments.

If you believe you need a permission slip (a drug, mantra, ritual etc.) then you need it. If you believe you’re powerful enough to do without a permission slip and simple focus on the vibration (feeling) of being healthy in a healthy body, then that will do the trick 🙂

    Hi John,

So how do we go about undoing the brainwashing?

    Thanks,
    Jane

      Hi Jane,

It may sound overly simple, but you undo the brainwashing by changing your mind, changing your thoughts. If, like most of the folks on a spiritual path, you believe we all create our own realities, then you know you experience whatever think about most of the time. The change may not happen overnight, but it will happen if you persist.

      Blessings,
      John

    John and Spirit

I just LOVE this subject and tweaking people when they complain or comment on getting older! When they ask me how old I am, I tell them I am like Benjamin Button and getting younger by the day… that comparison really draws some interesting comments! I love it when people have to stop and think about what I just said to them. Their eyes really give them away and something like that has the potential to really make a difference in their life!

The book series, Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East, really helped me see that we can live, like John and Spirit have said, beautiful and healthy lives with our ‘intent’. It is a decision from the heart, the masters have done it and so can we. There is ‘NO SEPARATION”, so have some fun making it happen.

Do we really want to die wishing we had done life (or the lack of it) differently? After all… it is OUR LIFE… no one else’s. =)

    Love to all
    Jerry

Thanks so much, Jerry. I tell people the same thing you do, and I get the same reaction. I didn’t mention it in today’s blog post, but that’s exactly what I told Jack when we were talking. He just kind of shrugged it off, as it didn’t fit in his belief system. As you said, it is our intent that makes all the difference.

      Blessings,
      John

    Fantastic post.. thanks for sharing!

If we’re limited only by our beliefs, and decline is just a byproduct of resistance, then as Creators it should be pretty obvious we can keep and improve our physical conditions (health, fitness, looks) indefinitely, till we get bored and focus our identity elsewhere..

Still, I’ve seen this rarely so Spirit’s message is a highly welcomed confirmation 🙂

John could you please let me know if I’ve got Spirit right, when I assume that “peak of perfection” includes looks as well? I like my appearance now and love the idea to keep it for as long as I’m around.. while developing my body’s capabilities always further.

    Thanks and cheers,

    Tommy

Thank you, Tommy for your kind words.

I agree with you. We can indeed keep our physical looks, although I don’t think most of us are yet at the point where, for example, at age 70 we can still look 30. But I know folks who are 70 and look much younger, and others who are 30 and look much older.

I had an older cousin who recently died at 101. She didn’t look 30, but she didn’t look 101 either. And she had experienced no mental deterioration at all. She just decided it was time to go.

Deepak Chopra tells an interesting story about his father, also a medical doctor. The elder Dr. Chopra worked as a physician until the day he died. He simply told his wife one night he was ready to go. Then he died peacefully that night in bed with his wife by his side.

      I hope that helps.

      Blessings,
      John
