Celebrating Diversity and Embracing Oneness

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it. ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower, United States president, 1953-1961

If I asked you if you really wanted peace on earth, what would you say? If someone asked me that question, my answer would be “Of course I want it!” I suspect your answer would be the same.

So why do we see so much hatred, anger and sheer cruelty all over the world today? Is President Eisenhower right when he says people have more power to create peace than our governments do?

Spirit

Your struggle to achieve peace on earth seems like a perennial problem. But we assure you the problem will soon be resolved. Although it does not seem like it. As Johnny said, there appears to be much strife running rampant all over your planet.

But you, all by yourself, have within you the key to changing all that, and swiftly.

Humans, especially individuals, often see themselves as powerless. Maybe a little less so when they are in large groups. But that is nonsense. In groups and individually, you each have far more peace-making power than you could ever imagine.

How do you exercise that power? Do you need to join large groups who promote peace? Yes, you can certainly do that, if that’s your preference.

But an equally powerful way is to promote peace within yourself. It may seem you’re not really doing much. But you are.

There are many ways to get yourself into that place of peace within.

First, realize peace already exists within you. You were created with a deep well of peace and power that has never changed. It’s still there.

So it’s not a matter of achieving it. It’s simply a matter of becoming aware of its presence within you.

That awareness can be enhanced and nurtured in various ways. Here are a few:

  • Meditation
  • Prayer
  • Associating with peaceful people
  • Getting out in to nature more
  • Nurturing and loving your body

There are many ways. Just do whatever feels good for you.

Once you become fully aware of that peaceful center within, you will radiate that peace all around you. People (and animals and even plants) will sense that peace. You don’t have to say or do anything. You just have to be who you really are.

When you are being yourself, you will realize you are all one—you embrace your oneness. And you celebrate your diversity.

Simply being yourself will be your biggest and most powerful contribution to world peace.

As we said earlier, you are far closer to that world peace than you can imagine, even in your wildest dreams.

Peace be with you.

This video is longer than we normally have. But it’s a powerful reminder that, as President Eisenhower says, we the people have more power to create peace and oneness than our governments do. And the key, as Spirit says, is celebrating diversity and embracing oneness. Diversity and oneness really do go together.

    Thank you very much John,
You and spirit of course touch my heart again!
Although is seems te be not always that easy to be yourself in all circumstances.
Especially at work, where you must often behave on a certain level.
This message reminds me of trying to be who you really are!

Thanks John and Spirit for the nice words of wisdom and the fun and touching video. Despite the news we are seeing in the world at this time, I remain optimistic – feeling like it is a cleansing and unearthing of the self loathing too many feel. My perception is that mass consciousness is changing but I’m not sure why I feel it when I witness the name calling on social media and rudeness and fear from folks who posture a superiority to others less fortunate. It is nice to hear spirit say “… you are far closer to that world peace than you can imagine, even in your wildest dreams.” My own peacefulness is generally good but it isn’t a linear growth and obviously requires regular practice. Spirit’s messages are delightfully simple and true. If you want to feel happy start feeling happy, well -feel good, peaceful – practice peace …”Simply being yourself will be your biggest and most powerful contribution to world peace.” Thank you – again.

You’re most welcome, Dan. And thank you for your thoughtful comments, as always.

I’m with you — I also remain optimistic. As you said, this seeming chaos is a cleansing, and an awakening to who we really are.

I agree — our inner peace is not a linear growth, and requires regular practice. For me personally, I need to practice peace every day. If I don’t, I will drift away from it, sometimes without being fully aware of the drifting.

Thank you again, dear brother. Have an amazing week!

Yes, I favor peace, too! All my fellow Quakers are supposed to also. Love and just one hug (OK?), George

I would agree that Peace is a personal decision as is war, killing, and judgement of others. I prefer love, peace, compassion, understanding, and the ability to accept others than myself. I live in joy, happiness, humor, and I love it.

All the negative reactions are not what makes joy. Peace within and faith and trust in the Creator are.

    Blessings to all.
    Love and Hugs, Johnny

Thank you very much, Mikala. Indeed, peace is a personal decision we all make, or fail to make. When we choose to accept others, then we realize there are no “others” — there is only us, the oneness. As you say, this peace is the root of deep, everlasting joy.

Love and hugs to you, Mikala

Diversity is a product of evolution. That makes it a necessity.
Love does not require oneness although a coming together in the spirit of love is useful. Villages become towns and towns become cities and so on. Interactions create experiences and that is why there are always spinoff in different directions.
People like to believe in black and white, right or wrong decisions but that is not useful either. The intent is in the long run most important, not the action.

Peace is a personal decision. It is also a symptom of love which is why peace is a decision since love is a decision. Simple.
