Does Change Drive You Crazy? by John Cali and Spirit

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better. ~ King Whitney Jr.

Spring does not come early here in the mountains of northwestern Wyoming. But the daffodils have finally begun to show their pretty faces.

Yesterday our weather was bright, sunny, and warm. In fact, it got so warm in the afternoon I had to turn on my air conditioning. Even in midsummer around here we don’t always need air conditioning. But this is mid-April!

This morning I awoke to find the temperature had plummeted overnight, to well below freezing. The wind was howling, and there was close to a foot of snow on the ground!

Winter in the Mountains Winter in the Mountains

Dramatic weather changes are not unusual around here. But, in all the years I’ve lived in Wyoming, I don’t recall anything that dramatic.

I remember a secretary we had in our office many years ago. She was a delightful young lady. But any time we made changes in our office routine, big or small, she would go nuts. As she told me once, “I can’t stand change.”

All this reminds me of the huge changes happening all over our planet today. There has always been change. The inevitability of change is the one thing that never changes. But today those changes are increasingly faster and bigger.

Many folks are struggling with change. Some are even choosing to leave the planet rather than face changes in their lives.

Spirit

Change is the only constant in your lives on Planet Earth. Change is a constant throughout the universe.

Even here in the realms of Spirit, we experience continual change. But it is quite different from what you call change, because time does not exist here.

The “bottom line?” You cannot escape change. Ever. “Dead” or “alive,” change is your constant companion. It cannot be otherwise.

Now we realize some changes can appear “bad” to your human eyes and minds. But that’s always an illusion. All change is good, and it is always for your highest good. No exceptions.

We urge you to see change for what it really is — a clear sign you are growing. The faster and greater the changes, the faster and greater your growth.

Look for the joy in the changes. As you say, look for the silver lining in the clouds.

Once you embrace and learn to love change, seeing it for what it truly is, you will find your lives becoming more and more peaceful and joyful. And filled with more adventure and fun.

Face change fearlessly and embrace it joyously.

My first winter in Montana, 1993, the temp. changed by 100 degrees in one day. It was -40, then 60. Talk about change! Haha I used to be very afraid of change, and the unknown. As I’ve grown and opened up more, spiritually, I’ve changed my perspective into a much more positive one.
I read a quote the other day: “Life experiences don’t happen TO you, they happen FOR you.” That opened me up even more, to welcome change into my life. I guess I now see change as my Self wanting to experience even more out of life. That’s why we’re here! Have a wonderful weekend, John! Much love!

Wow! That’s quite a change, Tracy! Here in Wyoming we’ve had radical temperature changes, but nothing like that! 🙂

Like you, I used to fear change and the unknown. But now I welcome them.

I love that quote. As a good friend of mine says, “Everything is conspiring for my awakening.”

You have a wonderful weekend too, Tracy. Much love to you, dear!

    hi John,
Being an Apple fan myself, I loved the video and found it inspiring. Especially the advice to find what you love. When I was thirty my life was turned upside down when I was forced to retire from teaching due to ill health. Things improved when I met my husband and had my son and those were happy years. Since he died, being a single parent has been tough. But I have found my passion. Photography. I just need to find a way to fit into my life.
Sometimes change reminds me of a Phoenix rising from the ashes, reborn. It’s important to remember that all change happens for a reason, for our higher good or as a wake up call. As you say, John, “everything always works out for me”!

    Love, Sarah

      Hi Sarah,

      Thanks very much!

I know all the challenges you’ve had in your life, and I deeply admire your courage and determination to go on. I’m delighted you’ve found your passion. Indeed, all change happens for a reason. And everything always works out.

      Love,
      John

This comes at a good time, John. I may have to move. But after reading this, I’m going to look at it as “I may have the opportunity to move.” As Max says, I am going to be in “wonderment as to what will happen next.” Thank you, John, and thank you, Max.

    Love,
    Toni

Thanks very much, Toni. I love your new perspective on moving. I too may be moving, although it’s a free choice. So I understand. Max is amazing — and so are you!

      Love,
      John

I am lucky to be so full of curiosity that change is a delightful experience for me! A lack of change to me is boring. Change keeps me in wonderment as to what will happen next with whatever action I may choose. I find life wonderful even at 90 years of age. I even enjoy my memories of the past. What a wonder filled world to live in!

    • John Cali

Thanks very much, Max. I love your beautiful perspective of change — and of life. I’m sure it’s a big part of why you are 90 years young. God bless you!
