Perception is a mirror, not a fact. ~ Lesson 304, A Course in Miracles
This morning, I came across what some would consider a revolutionary article. It suggested reality is not objective. The article was based on a new quantum physics experiment, reported in MIT Technology Review.
Among other things, the article said, “…under the right conditions, two people can observe the same event, see two different things happen, and both be correct. (Emphasis is mine.)
What many might consider revolutionary is the idea both people can be correct.
How can that be?
That experiment may sound like a new discovery. But about 43 years ago, the author of A Course in Miracles said, “Perception is a mirror, not a fact. And what I look on is my state of mind, reflected outward.”
A Course in Miracles, it seems, was saying almost the same thing 43 years ago as science is saying now.
So what’s real and what’s unreal? How can we trust what we see? The answer is we cannot trust it—unless we see with different eyes, with different vision.
We’ll talk more about this later.

¨Can two people observe the same “objective reality,” and yet have totally different experiences?¨
Is that another way of saying that reality is subjective? Well it is but that is not the only adjective which applies to the definition of reality. This mistake is what throws people off the track. They think in either/or gear. How about this and this and that? How about the law of attraction AND the law of accident AND maybe another law or two? Remember that in nature, say in a forest, an oak tree plants hundreds or thousands of acorns in order to give birth to maybe only one or two baby oaks. How does this translate to our topic? It has to do with the fact that reality is probable, that there are possibilities and probabilities. When we focus on a SUBJECT we give something like energy to it. We help the possibility to grow into a probability. In time probabilities manifest. This is not the same as what exists in imagination although that helps much like a single acorn helps to provide us with a tree.

Reality is a reflection of my state of mind. I believe this to be true. Even though we look out on the same day………..I see sunshine and smiles, another sees dark clouds and frowns. It’s all to do with how we feel. Yet what we feel, what our state of mind is in we can change it. We are not stuck in one reality for we make it, we can change it by the flick of our thoughts. There might be war all around yet a person will see peace because it is their state of mind. Everything is mind, thoughts, expectations. We are magical, we are mages that have sealed ourselves in disbelief. Time to wake up and change what you think you are.

So many folks believe they really are stuck. They deny their great power to exercise control over their lives. We can all see peace, no matter what’s happening in the world around us.
