Is the Flu Season a Myth?

Everyone has a doctor in him or her. We just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well. ~ Hippocrates

The holiday season is upon us. And so too is the flu season—or so the news media (and probably the drug companies) would have us believe. But I know many of you reading this do not buy into that propaganda.

I quit believing in flu season long ago. The last time I got a flu shot was about 30 years ago. That year is also the last time I ever had the flu. As far as I’m concerned, flu season is a myth. So let’s focus on the joy of the holiday season, and forget about the flu season.

This week our good friend Barbara Clark is going to talk about the deeper meaning of the flu season, and the aches and pains that go with it. Here she is.

Why Aches & Pains You Thought You’d Healed Reappear at Holiday Time: It’s Not For the Reason You Think!

The holiday/flu/cold season is almost upon us and it can be a very challenging time!

For many people, it’s happy, fun and busy! For some people it is deeply painful and lonely.

It can also be a time when old aches and pains you thought had healed reappear! You might choose to believe in things like “the flu season” or “seasonal ailments,” although, if you are reading this, you probably know it goes much deeper than that!

Listen To Your Body!

Family, festivities, anniversaries and celebrations create powerful emotional attachments. Memories come to the surface whether we are consciously aware of them or not. Even if you don’t remember, your body does!

Whether they are happy or sad, of love or loss, unresolved emotions around these memories can triggerย  you big time!

If you are not conscious of them, the chances are your body will manifest some type of ailment in an effort to bring these unresolved emotional issues to your attention. For example, lower back pain often coincides with anniversaries. These occasions confront us with our own mortality and can bring up deep layers of fear and insecurity about what lies ahead or about our standing in life. Learn more about lower back pain and how to help it heal by clicking here.

How Do I Know Which Emotions Have Been Re-triggered?

Listen to your body! If you are not consciously aware of which feeling or emotion has been triggered, the painful area in your body will give you a clue.

Download my free Guide To What Your Everyday Aches & Pains Really Mean to discover which areas tend to hold specific emotional issues. Or click on the image map on my home page to find healing clearings and affirmations which tell you the emotional issues most likely to be causing the pain.

Check Your Beliefs!

Become aware of your words and beliefs!

If you tell everyone, “I get three colds every winter,” should you be surprised when your body manifests three colds? Your body hears your words and does its best to follow your instructions. If you say, “I always slip on the ice,” are you surprised when you slip on the ice? Take a good look at your beliefs, thoughts and words.

A Top Tip To Stay Well

If you don’t want to get coughs, colds, sinus infections, etc., PLEASE don’t watch ads for cold and flu! You might think I’ve forgotten the word “remedies” at the end of that last sentence, but I didn’t. Remember all these ads are there to make money and constantly reminding you it’s the “flu season” is a surefire way to bring flu into your consciousness. Whenever you see them, remind yourself that is no longer your reality. Affirm that you are healthy, your immune system is powerful and re-set your intention to remain healthy. Give no energy or attention to the imaginary “flu season.”

I wish everyone a very happy, loving and peaceful Holiday Season.

Love,
Barbara

    Hey, Wait a minute!!
At the end of this lovely article it says ” Love, Barbara”!

I see John, you are responding to comments as you usually do but I am just wondering who wrote the flu article or if it was co-authored?

    Either way it’s a Win:Win of course!

Yes, I am in total agreement here. For me as an adult, family holidays in my alcoholic family became a very painful experience in which I would invariably end up crucufied by one or more family members. I would leave feeling devastated ( early, usually, even though I always went in with high hopes that this year it would be different) . Then my mother would proclaim that
” Martha ruined Christmas..AGAIN!” At a certain point, every year just about, I would come down with a horrendous “flu” and was unable to go to my mother’s for Christmas. My brother annpunced I was ” doing it on purpose”. Holidays at my father’s and our wicked stepmother’s were equally painful.. just in a different way. It was never really home, because home always meant with our mother. But when you’re surrounded by crazy and you don’t feel safe at all, getting the ” flu” was a pretty good out, I guess. Looking back, I have compassion for that girl, ( me). AT least I got to stay at home in my heart, even if I was in bed feeling miserable.

One thing I have noticed is that I always felt better after these cold flus than before I got
    “sick”. Lighter, and more peaceful in my body mind.This tells me it was a kind of cleansing and not necessarily getting sick at all. More of a getting well. A fever can be beneficial;
“Nature’s Incinerator”. Getting all the gunk out!

As the song says, ” Well, there’s No Place Like Home For the Holidays……
REMEMBER that, Home is where the Heart is!

With Love to All from Martha

Hi again, Martha. Sorry if it wasn’t clear, but Barbara wrote that article, without any input or help from me.

Thanks very much for sharing your memories of the holidays. Unfortunately, I know many people with similar recollections of the holidays, particularly Christmas. I was blessed to grow up in a huge Italian/Sicilian family. And boy, did they ever know how to celebrate holidays! They even celebrated funerals. Lots of warm, wonderful memories there. I would wish that for everyone.

      Thanks again for sharing.

      Love, John

      Hi Martha,
What a brilliant way you had of getting to stay cozy in bed! ๐Ÿ™‚ Our innate wisdom is always at work and what we want, it does its best to give us. Our bodies are so wise and loving and always trying to do the very best they can for us.

Here’s to higher consciousness ways of coping! ๐Ÿ™‚

      Tons of love as always,
      Barbara X

John, I am right now getting over a cold. I haven’t had a cold in several years. I don’t do doctors. In fact, the doctor I use calls me to tell me to go in for blood work or whatever. I don’t. I firmly believe that doctors are taught to “find” something and they’ll do every kind of test until they do. Growing up, we weren’t “allowed” to get sick or complain. My mother, a tough, tough little Italian lady, would tell us to “think about something else.” We’re all girls, and when girl things would happen, she would tell us, “You’re going to have it for 40 years. Get over it.”

I talk to the cells of my body. If I get a leg cramp or stomach pain (lactose intolerant), I call on my cells to heal it and it’s done!

Thank you for this information from Barbara Clark and for the video. I’m going over to Barbara’s page now to get this cold gone for good!

    Love,
    Toni

Thanks very much, Toni. Like you, I don’t do doctors. I remember something Alan Cohen once said — “Choose a doctor who will find something right with you.” I love that!

It’s changing for the better, but many doctors today are in that old mindset of finding something wrong. Your mother sounds like a wise lady. She reminds me of my own Italian mother and the other ladies of our family.

That’s great that you talk to your cells to heal.

Enjoy Barbara’s video. Her meditations are powerful, and they REALLY work!

      Love,
      John

      Toni,

I LOVE what you wrote! You made me chuckle!

My mother always said, ” If I come back, I’m coming back in a large Italian Family!”

I just saw Michael Moore’s wonderful film ” Where to Invade Next”. Well the first country he goes to is Italy. He says that Italians are happier and healthier than most people and that they live an average of four years longer than Americans. Small wonder! Put it on your list. It’s a delight.

Your mama was right. If I complained of something when I was a little girl, my mother, who was German, would say, ” Either it’ll get better or it’ll get worse”.

      Feel good soon!
Okay, it’s settled. We’re all going over to Barbara’s house for Christmas!

        Hey again, Martha,

Just as soon as I get my house you are on! ๐Ÿ™‚

          Okay, then!!
In the meantime, we’re all going over to John’s Big Warm Italian Family’s house for Christmas!!!

      Hi Toni,

Thank you for sharing your story. I think a great many of us have these old tapes still running in our subconscious minds. They were input from the outside and really have nothing to do with us but until we become aware of them they continue to run our lives.

I am so delighted that you talk to your cells! My original inspiration for my What Your Body Wants To Hear meditations was a vision I had of thousands of cells breathing a sigh of relief when the negative self-talk stopped! In that moment and of course when we talk lovingly to them, a space is created for them to heal.

Thank you so much for your kind comment and for downloading my Simple Guide To What Your Everyday Aches & Pains Really Mean, I hope you enjoy it.

      Love,
      Barbara
