The Healing Power of Animals by John Cali and Spirit

My good friend, Ann Miller publishes The Star Beacon, a popular bimonthly newsletter about UFOs and other related information. In her April issue Ann published an article, “The Deeper Spiritual Purpose of Pets” by Robert Schwartz. Robert is the author of the popular books, Your Soul’s Plan and Your Soul’s Gift.

In his article Robert talks about the healing power of animals. Most of us who’ve lived with a dog or cat, or any pet, have probably had some experience with this. I’ve been around dogs and cats most of my life. But I never appreciated their healing power until my little schnauzer, Schnapsi, became my dearest friend long ago.

Schnapsi came to live with me about 25 years ago. In hindsight, I see the timing was perfect, as that was a difficult period of change and challenge for me. Schnapsi, even though he was a young puppy, picked up on that energy I was feeling. And he “appointed” himself as my guardian. I don’t think I would have made it through those long dark months without him.

When we were at home together he rarely left my side. He slept in bed with me. And he usually went with me wherever I went. If I had to leave him home for any reason, he protested loudly.

One cold winter day I was having a particularly bad time. I was sitting at my desk in my home office, trying to concentrate on work. But my mind kept wandering. As I sat there a huge wave of sadness and hopelessness washed over me. I’ll never forget that day.

Schnapsi was in another part of the house. But the moment that wave hit me, he was there instantly. He stood there for a few seconds looking directly into my eyes. Then he leapt into my lap and I could feel his healing energy surround me, dissolving the darkness. I instantly felt better.

That’s just one example of the many times Schnapsi helped me move through those dark days. I didn’t see at the time what he was doing. But I do now—he would take my dark, negative energy into himself. He was sacrificing his own well-being for my sake.

It literally killed him. He developed a brain tumor at the age of two years. He became another personality, and we eventually had to put him down. That was one of the saddest days of my life.

A few years later, after I started channelling, Schnapsi, in spirit, came back to me. He’s been with me ever since. So there was a happy ending.

Spirit

There is always a happy ending to all relationships, human or animal. Actually, there are no endings, because you never lose those you love. They are always with you, in flesh or in spirit. You all go on forever.

Animals, particularly domestic animals, are great teachers and healers for humans, as we’ve said before. They have little to gain from you, but they have much to give you.

The healing power of animals is a vast untapped resource humans are only now beginning to realize and use.

Animals are here on the planet to serve you and to serve the planet herself. They serve willingly and lovingly. They love you unconditionally.

If you allow and accept them into your lives they will heal you. Love is the only way you can be truly healed. And animals are the greatest healers because they love you unconditionally, asking nothing in return.

I have two donkeys here where I moved in a while ago
People come and go and usually don’t stick around too long
Relations are tenuous and fleeting these days
But the donkeys stick around and stare at me till I feed them
They definetly help us through the rough and tumble of our complex human lives with their simplicity ,serenity and straightforward attitude and presence in life
In their relationship all they want or demand from you is food to keep them alive
And they’re not too bothered about anything ,sure the bad weather must get to them but they just hang around doing their thing, animals might as well be zen masters, in simple state of
    meditation all day!
I’ve even come up with an idea for donkey puppets based on the two here
Could be a Future fun thing to do
Anyway animals are in touch with their inner being and true nature more so thán us ‘civilised’ creature – humans, probably being in nature most of the time helps too
Animal have something we have lost, maybe we can get back in touch with those qualities gain, especially from our connection to four legged friends
Also animals don’t judge you or make impossibl demands an complications
It’s straightforward give me food and they give back unconditional love ,and maybe abit of other stuff too, but mostly they’re there for you when you need them
    Expressing empathy and friendliness
Animals can be our best buddies

Well now i feel awful..i was reading this thinking how much my two labs are helping me and my husband.Through my daughters fight with a brain tumor. Then i read where your loving pup got sick from your depressed energy! That would kill us…..

Sue, that was my dog’s choice at his spirit level. It does NOT mean your dogs are going to do the same thing. They may well go on living long, healthy lives while helping your daughter heal.

Towards the end of my mum’s life..she died of old age…but was on morphine. She would say she saw things that seemed so real but she understood it was morphine induced. One time she said a black labrador had taken to lying on her bed with her. She commented on his loving eyes looking at her. I was comforted to think she was being guarded and I suspect guided into the next world.

Thank you for these inspiring posts.

Thanks very much, Margaret, for sharing that beautiful story of your mother. I know we are all guided into the next world. And those same loving spirits guide us while we’re still in this world.

    John,

Thank you so so much for this beautiful post. I am enjoying all your posts, and this one is especially poignant and meaningful for me. My beautiful prince, my Jack Russell Terrier named Gromit, is approaching the day when he will be free of his painful body. He has taken all the repressed emotion of grief and fear from me and my family and transmuted it all to pure love, and like your precious friend Schnapsi, it has created illness and pain in his body. I have known this for years and felt deeply guilty about it, and your timely reminder of the infinite grace of Spirit in this unconditionally given gift of transmutation and healing these beings offer us gives me comfort. I know that this learning of accepting this immense love is one of the last, and hardest to receive, gifts Gromit is giving me. May all humans awake to this profound understanding of the beauty, consciousness and God given right-to-thrive of all Beings on this planet, and may we joyfully enter into communion with these brethren, co-creating a peaceful and harmonious world of mutual well-being, all life forms thriving in a green and abundant world.

Thank you so much for your personal expression of uplifting inspiration and comfort.

As my friend Amarnath says, I am
Bowing in gratitude, Rising in love,
    Leslie
