How To Be Happy by John Cali

The Best Thing To Wear Is a Smile

The past few weeks we’ve been updating our computer systems and website (again!). Since I’m basically a one-person operation, it’s taking much of my time and energy.

So this week we’re revisiting a newsletter article we published a while back, on the subject of happiness. That topic generates seemingly endless conversation.

My spirit guides have always said happiness is a choice we can freely make. Not everyone agrees with that, as you’ll see in this newsletter article.

Are you happy with your life overall? I know we all have challenges, but some folks have a talent for remaining happy no matter what’s going on around them. How about you? Please share with us below.

We welcome your comments and thoughtful opinions, whether you agree or disagree with us. Please keep your comments polite and relevant to the topic of this article. If needed, we’ll edit for clarity. Also, we’ll delete anything we consider inappropriate.

To quote Chief Joseph, “Happiness is a choice you can freely make. Unhappiness is a choice you can freely make. No one, nothing can compel you to be either happy or unhappy. It’s as President Lincoln said — you are as happy as you decide to be.”
Then he went on to say, “You are God.” If we truly believe this, know it at the core of our being then we will be nothing but happy for we will know that everything we experience in the physical with our feelings either is not real or we are the one choosing the wrong potential. Either way it all comes back to WE ARE GOD, Creators.

If we know something on the surface, that’s a good starting place because then we can catch any thoughts that are out of alignment with our core truth that We Are God/Love. If it ain’t loving it ain’t god-like. By the way, a simple way to switch any situation is to smile, no matter the situation, for your mind only bases it interpretation on feelings, and a smile send out the vibe of feeling happy.

Forget everything you know, for it is what you think you know that limits the infinite potential of what could be. That is my thought for the day.

Thank you very much, Joseph, for your thoughtful comments. I completely agree with you.

“Coincidentally,” I read an article just the other day about happiness. It said exactly what you’re saying — if you smile, even when you’re not happy, it raises your vibration. It also changes the chemical processes in your body to create a feeling of happiness. If you’re interested here’s the link to the article:

I think I am happy overall. Like everyone I have my unhappy times. Usually, when I see people I haven’t seen in awhile they tell me I look happy and want to know how I am so happy.

I often tell myself that I can be happy .. no matter what ..
Being happy .. no matter what .. seems to be a matter of choice and focus …
What thoughts do I focus upon … ?
And do I make choices from that inner ‘gut’ wisdom … or God-whispers..?

Do I choose my thoughts or do I let them choose me … ?

It is all a matter of practice … practice .. practice … in order to fine-tune my thoughts (focus) and choices.
What thoughts and beliefs do I choose to practice .. in any given moment ..?

Some days I am better at it than others .. and it is all a-okay … in this game-of-life.

As always .. thank you for the topic and words of wisdom …

Thank you, Stephanie, for your thoughtful comments. I agree — it’s simply a matter of choosing happy thoughts, and then just practicing them relentlessly.
