Is This the Age of Too Much Information? by John Cali

Free Range Eggs

Did you know eggs can kill you? The other day I saw a short news video about a new study. It concluded egg yolks are almost as dangerous to your health as smoking. That surprised the hell out of me!

The two newscasters cited other, conflicting, studies, some of which concluded eggs were perfectly safe. In moderation, of course.

Those of you who follow food and nutrition news know this controversy has been raging for years.

So what are ordinary folks like you and me supposed to do? Even the experts, as competent as they may be, disagree with each other. With all the internet information available today, it can be a daunting task to figure out what’s good for you and what’s not.

As much as I rely on technology for my work and personal life, I sometimes think this is the age of too much information. And beyond that, I believe it’s caused many folks to give up relying on their own common sense and good judgement. To rely less on their inner guidance, their intuition, as we discussed in this blog post.

I don’t really believe there is anything such as too much information. But with the internet today there is so much of it available, even the experts can get confused. It’s not so much a matter of what’s right or wrong, but simply of differing perspectives, scientific studies, etc.

What’s worked for me is to simply review the information on the subjects I’m interested in (like nutrition), and then just make up my own mind, based on my intuition.

How about you? How do you deal with the flood of information available today? Please share your thoughts with us below.

We welcome your comments and thoughtful opinions, whether you agree or disagree with us. Please keep your comments polite and relevant to the topic of this blog post. If needed, we’ll edit for clarity. Also, we’ll delete anything we consider inappropriate.

Yes, we have amazing access to an extraordinary amount of information. For me it is always best trust my inner guidance and where foods are concerned I have very good communication with my physical body.

It seems if you paid attention to all the varied studies there is NOTHING we can eat that won’t kill us or make us ill.

What I have learned to be un- waveringly true for me is What We Believe Is What Is True For Us.

Don’t like how things are going or not being sure of what to do, or what to eat, or what is truth ? Change your beliefs. They are indeed that strong. There is a big difference from wanting to think something is true, hoping something is true, kinda-sorta believing in something and what it is that creates our own personal reality which is what we deep down knowingly believe.

Exactly why we each have our own version of reality.

Thank you, Shirl. I agree — all we have to do is change our beliefs. Then our reality changes.

      Big hugs,

A Course in Miracles says that nothing that is not made by God is real and that what we see as humans is perception and is unreal; only having the importance that we assign it. What beats our heart and gives breath is: ” in All, through All and above All.” We and all we percieve are expressed and manifested thoughts of God. “And the Word(God) was made flesh(Physical). Technology is manmade, Quantum Entanglement is God made and much more efficient and mankind cannot explain why.

I am just waiting for the study that says that reading too many studies is bad for your health. 😉

Seriously, there may be a time or times ahead when we may be grateful that we have so many sources of information so that we can best decide how to respond to a situation and how to contact friends and relatives whom it may be important for us to contact.

Also, I’m reminded of the comment from Shakespeare in Hamlet: “There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so.”

I love eggs, scrambled, over easy, poached, on toast, boiled in salads. Eggs are as good as I believe them to be.

As to too much information, you are right but it isn’t just the information it is also too much of phones. People walk and text, drive and text, talk on the phone while shopping even arguing on the phone……..I wonder why we cannot wait till we get home or to the person we are talking too……. We do so much talking and texting we have a hard time to be by ourselves to delve into the me that is waiting.

I take everything on the internet with a grain of salt and on the tv or radio. With discernment we can choose what we want to focus on, what information we need and let the rest go. Relying on our own intuition to what is right for us is a good way to go. Intuition will never lead you wrong but too much information will………

    Hi John,

Thank for this post, which is quite synchronistic. Yesterday I stumbled upon an article explaining that fluorides were causing pineal gland calcification (including scary photos). And basically, there was no easy solution, except maybe living on another planet. This same article was going on, talking of all the toxic products we were ingesting every day, and that we should be wary of.

But to me, people who write those kinds of articles don’t even realize they are spreading another form of toxicity, which does not attack the body, but the mind. And we know that ultimately, that’s what we focus on that creates our reality. In other words, their approach seems even more toxic to me, than all the products they were listing. I could certainly create a wide variety of issues in my body if I was always focusing on that. Quite ironic actually.

    Much love,
    Frédéric

      Hi Frederic,

Thanks very much for your comments. I agree with you — toxicity of the mind is just as bad, if not worse, than of the body. As you said, it’s what we focus on that creates our experiences, including illness and health.

      Much love,
      John

I can see good coming out of all the confusion with contradicting studies.
At the end people can only rely on themselves. 🙂
And there will come a day scientists will confirm all together that all is energy.

Makes me think of something Walter Russell, IMO the greatest scientific genius in the history of science, once said during an interview, and which I consider a fundamental truth:

“Tell me how you acquired your scientific knowledge,” I asked. “You say you never studied physics and have read but few books in your life.”

“It is because I always looked for the CAUSE behind things and didn’t fritter away my time analyzing EFFECTS,” he replied. “ALL KNOWLEDGE EXISTS as CAUSE. And it is simple. It is limited to LIGHT of MIND and the electric wave of motion which records God’s thinking in matter.

“EFFECT is complex – infinitely complex – but one can have no KNOWLEDGE of effect. One can but be INFORMED of effect. Information is not knowledge. Our educational processes INFORM us but until we have recognized the eternal truth which underlies that information we have no knowledge of it. Like food in the grocery store, it is not nourishment until it is converted to the blood stream. ALL-KNOWLEDGE is possible for anyone – and the Cosmos gives it to him who asks, but all-information is impossible.”

    • John Cali

Thanks very much, Rado, for your comments. I love that quotation from Walter Russell. I believe it was you who first told me about him many years ago.

I hope all is well with you.

      John

      • Rado

Thanks John, still alive and well. 🙂

Still haven’t got that Walter Russell website up running yet, have had to postpone it for different reasons, but I’ll let you know as soon as it’s up…

I believe that everything is energy, and we are the ones who label things good or bad. I believe it is our beliefs about certain things, that makes this true for us. I choose to believe everything is energy, and nothing is either good or bad, unless I choose to make it so. I believe everything in my life is God Energy, and nothing is bad, it’s just a preference of what I choose. It’s all God to me.

The amount of information today is beyond unimaginable in its depth and scope. It can overwhelm IF WE ALLOW IT TO. It does give us the choice to exercise imagination, patience, choice, moderation, boundaries, discernment, allowance, unconditionality, etc., etc. As with all things in life it is WHAT WE MAKE OF IT. It offers a new world at out finger tips with little effort. A blessings that can cross the line without notice into a curse. Is it a dark plan to keep us in our heads and out of our hearts, or is it the blessings of the angels offering us untold insights previously unavailable or hidden? Are we drowning in a sea of minutia? – depends on what moment in time you are referencing.

    • Joseph

That being said, a short while ago I wrote, ” Forget everything you know, for it is what you think you know that limits the infinite potential of what could be. ” It is time to just BE and use our imagination, and intention (feelings) to go out into the ethers of quantum creation, and KNOW it will be created. Let it go and KNOW! If you revisit it the Universe picks up the doubt behind the need to revisit your original creation. Do creator gods need information or just imagination, or both? As gods we already know everything, right? Yet isn’t creation and growth an every expanding knowledge / information base? What is infinite potential? Are we all dogs chasing our own tail? – let me Google that and I’ll get back to you.

I agree John, using intuition is, for me, the only way to decide what is right. All of these ‘reports’ make me smile because they remind me of the ego going crazy!! I love coffee, eggs, bacon, butter on toast with lots of jam… and I’m all set!

I have a dear friend who eats nothing but diet food with calorie restriction…. and is STILL gaining weight.!! I love to tease her and gently remind her to enjoy her food, friends, and anything her heart desires.

It’s just energy and only you know what your body enjoys! Gee… I wonder if I will get flamed for what I eat… hahaha.

    Love and hugs,
    Jerry

    • John Cali

Thanks very much, Jerry. I agree. Makes you wonder — is it what we eat that matters or what we think about what we eat? 🙂

      Love & hugs,
      John
