Life and Death

Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God. ~ A Course in Miracles

Most of us have likely dealt with the death of a loved one. So we know the pain and sadness that can create. But there is always a “silver lining” in the dark clouds of death.

Spirit has talked about life and death many times over the years. If you’re reading this, you know life is real, death is unreal. But what does that mean? Here are a few of Spirit’s random thoughts about death.

Spirit

  • If any death on your planet is certain, it is the fear of death. Fear will die, but you are immortal.
  • Your consciousness creates and sustains your physical body. But it is not in your body. It is not your body. It is your essence, who you are. It is eternal. Therefore, you are eternal.
  • Your nightly dreams, when you are aware of them, are often vivid and seemingly real. In the morning you awaken to the “real” world. Your nighttime dreams fade and vanish. “Well,” you say, “they weren’t real after all.” But at the time you were absolutely certain of their reality.
  • What we just described is exactly the process when you experience what you call “death.” Death is simply the end of the dream. It’s not the end of you.
  • All your loved ones who have passed through the illusion of death are still with you—right here, right now, as you read this. But you believe there is a veil separating you from them. That veil, like death itself, is an illusion. You are all one, “living” or “dead.” You always have been.
  • So when you decide it’s time to move from “life” to “death,” your loved ones on “the other side of the veil” will make sure you know they are there with you. You may even see or hear them with your physical or spiritual vision.
  • Every death is a suicide, in the sense you all decide the timing and manner of your passing. Not perhaps in what you might think of as a deliberate and conscious manner. But you nonetheless make that decision. It’s always the right decision for you.
  • As we’ve said, every death is a suicide. If you believe you create your own realities, then you must believe you also create the timing and manner of your “death.” There are no victims, there are no villains. There are only creators and co-creators.
  • You are all God. God is all that is. God is eternal. You are eternal. There is no end. There is no death. There is only life eternal.
  • You are love. You are God. Fear is not who you are. Fear is not part of God. Death does not exist. Let go of the fear of death, and then you will soar.
  • To paraphrase A Course in Miracles above, the real (life) cannot be threatened, and the unreal (death) does not exist.

Are you afraid of death? Do you believe, as Spirit says, physical life and death are only dreams?

The sister of my dear friend and brother Ted Murray recently made the transition we call death. In this video, Ted eloquently speaks of how this experience affected him.

I know, John, if it’s anything like when she tried to contact me shortly after she died. That’s been over 45 years and was powerful but I freaked out and haven’t connected with her since. I’m not quite sure how to get back there and start over again with where I’m at now. I can only imagine how sweet it would be. Thank you for being there and listening, my friend. It will be perfect when that time comes again. Love and hugs.

You’re most welcome, dear. If there’s anything I can help you with, just let me know.

      Love & hugs,
      John

Thanks John. I will. I hope, like Spirit says, from “the other side of the veil” she will make sure I know she is there with me. I’m looking forward to making that connection with her again like she did with so many loved ones when she alive.

    • John Cali

It’s a powerful experience, Pat. At least it has been for me, in the several connections I’ve made with some of my family who’ve passed on.

  3. Pat Ruppel

She sure was, thank you, John. Looking forward to connecting with her on this plane some day. Think I’m ready now. Love and hugs.

    • John Cali

You’re most welcome, Pat. I also think you are ready now. Let me know how it goes.

      Love & hugs,
      John

Thank you, John. Always something I’ve been very interested in given my experiences with my grandmother growing up. She was always so comfortable with death and communicated back and forth with loved ones who passed.

    • John Cali

You’re most welcome, Pat. I remember your experiences with your grandmother. She certainly was a most wise old soul, a great role model for us all.

Thank you for all that you do to help in the awakening. I have read and studies almost everything that I can from You, Lee Carroll, Ester Hicks, Darryl Anka, Delores Cannon, and a variety of others. It’s cohesive for me to listen to all and see a connective picture. There is one small item though that I seem to be stuck on and can’t get over. I’m sorry if it seems trite compared to human comings and goings in the body, which I have a comfortable grasp upon. I understand that our pets do indeed have souls and, if loved by a human, may try to return to us, but, I’d like to STOP grieving for the senseless loss of one in particular from less than a year ago that was just under a year old. I know I will understand this completely when I cross through the dream but, right now, I would just like some solace. Again, thank you for your time and any response. You are appreciated. <3

Thank you very much, Nadine, for your message and your kind words.

I understand your grief over the death of your beloved pet. I’ve had the same experience, more times than I care to remember.

A few years ago, we wrote a blog post about the death of pets. This post was deeply personal for me, and I thought it might help you. Here it is:

      Thanks again, Nadine,

    Namaste John.

I loved the above regarding death. However, I do question one thing that Spirit said.

How can every death be a suicide? Wouldn’t that also pertain to small children or babies? I would not think a young child/baby would be capable of even pondering such a thing. This is a question I have asked myself many times (as I’m sure many people have) but never found an answer to.

Thank you and Spirit for your response.

    Darlene McKinney
What does Spirit say about this?

    • John Cali

      Hi Darlene,

      Glad you liked the post.

That’s a good question — is every death a suicide? Certainly the death of a small child or baby is not a suicide in the way we, from our limited human perspective, define suicide.

However, none of us are defined by our physical bodies — that’s not who we truly are. We are simply spirit or soul temporarily occupying a physical body. Spirit is in control, and is wise and all-knowing.

So when we, at the soul level, decide it’s time to move on, we do. The age of the physical body does not matter. A newborn baby or young child is, at the soul level, as wise a soul as someone who’s 100.

      I hope that helps,
      John

Wow… Now it make sence. I never understood this but you make it really clear. I have read so much about this and this never came up to me. I am very thankful for this insight. It solves a lot of misunderstanding.

    Kind regards marga

Thanks for sharing this good article. My question is, if you are leaving this earth, and your loved ones are on the other side, what is this working with reincarnation then. The person isnt anymore on the other side, are we then projecting what we want to see and experience? Thanks already for the answer. Have a good day! Kind regards marga ❤️

    • John Cali

      You’re welcome, Marga.

As humans in physical bodies, we perceive a barrier, or “veil,” between ourselves and those in spirit. But there really is no veil — it’s just a perception we invented. We are not separate — all are one.

In the realms of spirit, there is no time. All you have is the present moment, or the eternal now. A Course in Miracles calls it “the holy instant.”

So reincarnation, then, is another misperception we’ve created. All our so-called “past” and “future” lives are now. They’re concurrent.

I realize not everyone sees reincarnation in the way I do. Anyway, I hope that helps, Marga.

      John
