Sickness and Healing: Follow-Up

Several people questioned our statement in the Sickness and Healing post a couple weeks ago. The statement:

“…as spirit embodied physically, you live in the illusion of linear time…. healing can appear to take time. But rest assured, the moment you ask, in that moment, you are permanently healed.

Those ideas did not originate with us. You will find them, and related ideas, at least several times in A Course In Miracles. Here are a few examples.

  • Healing is always certain.
  • Healing is the change of mind that the Holy Spirit in the patient’s mind is seeking for him.
  • Healing cannot be repeated. If the patient is healed, what remains to heal him from?
  • And if the healing is certain, as we have already said…what is there to repeat?
  • One of the most difficult temptations…is that to doubt a healing because of the appearance of continuing symptoms….

Those are just a few of the the Course’s comments on healing.

In this video, A Course in Miracles teacher David Hoffmeister, talks about the fear of miracles. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Why should we fear miracles?

For those of you who are particularly sensitive, this is a powerful and emotional video.

    Hi John,
Thank you for this timely message. I would love to hear from people who have been faced with serious health challenges who have lived with strong spirital beliefs, become ill and overcome the condition by loving themselves. These are the stories that give me hope for I am in that boat right now. I am in the Kryon Circle of 12 ( Healing Wednesdays) and also listening to beautiful messages from Alcazar and that is really helping
Blessings and Love to All and thank you, Dear John.

Many years ago, when I asked about healing through a friend who channels, the guides said that healing always happens, although, it may be spiritual, emotional or physical. They said that sometimes the healing takes place just before death. Often, we choose the experiences of illness before even arriving on earth for the purpose of learning about loving ourselves regardless. It seems to me that there are so many variables that it may not be as simple as “everyone can heal their physical body”. I don’t know! It’s confusing to me as well. I know I’ve healing aspects of myself physically….but not totally. I think it has a lot to do with loving yourself unconditionally which is also creates a real shift in thinking.

Thank you, Jackie, for your thoughtful comments.

I completely agree with you—healing has much to do with loving yourself unconditionally. As A Course in Miracles says, healing is simply a matter of changing your mind—or, as you put it, loving yourself creates a real shift in your thinking.

How does one get rid of “the appearance of continuing symptoms”?

I’d suggest you read the short section titled, “Should Healing Be Repeated?” in the Manual for Teachers (Volume Three) of A Course In Miracles.

“Form always follows your expectations.” Advise from waking . So doubt is indeed the mind killer. No matter what we desire doubt will bring it to a stop. How to get rid of doubt? Believe in yourself and your Spirit/Soul. Believe the Universe leans in your direction, it does.

    love and hugs
    Jeannie
