Spirit’s Friday Frolics for July 6, 2012 by John Cali

This isn’t exactly a comedy video. But it is funny. I think you’ll find it uplifting and inspiring, as I did.

That was a delightful video to watch. I wish all hundred + geriatrics were as capable and delighted with life as she is. I’m sure she is a blessing to many.

John, I’m not usually up for late night tv, but I had actually seen this before, when it first aired. I got a kick out of her. She reminded me of my own grandmother who lived to the age of 102.. Nanny was my inspiration and my strength. Woman had no fear, and while not quite as chipper always as this lady, she had a wry and sometimes unexpected sense of humor that tickled me. She was able to live independently until the last few years of her life, and even then, as the eldest guest in a nursing home, she was sharp as a tack and asked little help with anything.

We’d all flown out to Denver to see her for her 100th birthday celebration. As her grand kids gathered around, she popped out her upper plate, held it up and said, “I paid a lot for these”, but then pointing at the few teeth in her mouth, spread out in a jack o’ lantern grin, she quipped, “but these are antiques!”

Her dentist loved her, and was one of the invited guests at her party. ha.

Thanks for the chuckle, and the memory.

Just wonderful, John. What an inspiration she is. She doesn’t seem to have a mean bone in her body, and that’s probably why she’s lived so long. I would like to be just like her.

    Thanks, John.

    Love, Toni
