The Web of Life and Our Global Community by John Cali

We hear much today about our worldwide global community. With all the wonders our modern communication technologies have brought us, every part of our planet is only a heartbeat away from every other part.

We’re gaining a greater awareness of what our spiritual teachers and guides have been telling us forever—we are all connected. We are one, in every way.

This new year has started out with a big surge in my workload. So today we’re revisiting an article we wrote a while back, A Sense of Community.

What is your opinion of the power and speed of our modern communication methods? Is this a good thing or not—or a mixed blessing? Please share your thoughts and comments with us below.

We welcome your comments and thoughtful opinions, whether you agree or disagree with us. Please keep your comments polite and relevant to the topic of this post. If needed, we’ll edit for clarity. Also, we’ll delete anything we consider inappropriate.

I think that modern global communications is a resource provided us by Spirit. The fact that we can see and hear and know that everyone on the planet are human beings, just like us, is the catalyst that will bring us to global peace.
There is no them and us anymore, there is only we. We are no-longer Canadians, Americans, Asians, Europeans, Africans, Israelis, Islams, etc, etc. We are all humans, living together on this Earth we call Gaia.
It will be through continued global dialogue, association and friendships using the communication methods of today and tomorrow that we will begin … being human.

Hello John, I’m glad reading your website through Internet. I’m French woman and I’m sharing your vision. Sometimes it’s difficult with my family to talk about certain topics, such as Seth teaching or intuitive listening experience.
I wanted to share a documentary (with english subtitles) where two French are gone at the nomads of Mongolia, living two weeks with Batbayar and his family … It’s like Wyoming, a huge country where men live with nature and in community.
Batbayar is really a wise and beautiful man.
He said : We’re all just human beings on this earth, beyond languages and religions…
Yes, we’re connected by Internet in the visible world and by spirit in the invisible… Internet give choice to see the best in the world, the gift of consciousness in all over the countries on earth, and the different ways of her expression.

Thank you very much, Claire, for sharing that story and video. It’s very encouraging to see so many people waking up to the fact we all are one.

That sense of cooperation and friendliness in the local community is lovely – I live in a small village and almost everyone here has a friendly hello.

I think that, overall, global expansion has led to impersonalisation. People in the larger populated areas have become just a number, another face in the crowd. We can learn a lot from some of the supposed ‘3rd world’ countries where there is an excellent support network family and community mean everything – they also have a rich cultural heritage which is passed down through generations.

Regarding modern communication methods, I feel they are a blessing when utilised for positive purposes. They can actually help people who feel isolated connect with others of a like mind. The internet, for example, has brought together probably millions of people in support of various causes who wish to spread some positivity and help the planet and humanity (and not to forget the animal population!). There are downsides, of course, but the internet is a reflection of humanity and I would say that the majority of its use is positive.

It has impacted communities in some ways, especially the shopping sites like ebay. Small businesses have suffered at the expense of the large internet companies, but on the other side of the coin, products and goods we could never have dreamed of twenty years ago are available at the touch of a button.

Spiritually, the net and communication in general has had a huge impact. Spiritual teachings can now be accessible to anyone who has the internet. People are not limited to following the religions of their families as they expand their knowledge and find their own path. They can find groups and workshops, network with like-minded people and so on.

The nature of connecting has changed. People thirty years ago would have been restricted to their circle of friends and community. Now there are social networking sites which enable people to connect from all over the globe. Some say that relationships formed in this way ahve become more disposable, but hasn’t our whole world become more instant and disposable?

I believe that the potential for positivity far outweighs the negative.
