There Is No Such Thing As Objective Reality by John Cali and Spirit

Aham brahmasmi. ~ Sanskrit mantra, translated as “I am the wholeness of all creation.”

We’ve all heard it said we create our own realities. But what exactly does that mean? And how do we do it?

Spirit

First, let’s start this discussion with who each of you really are. Or, more to the point, who you are not.

You are not:

  • Your body
  • Your mind
  • Your family identity
  • Your ethnic background
  • Your job, your profession
  • Father
  • Mother
  • Son
  • Daughter
  • And so on

You are not any of those labels you use to identify yourselves while you are in your physical bodies.

Your are pure spirit. That’s who you really are. Nothing more, nothing less.

A better way to say that is you are pure consciousness. You are part of that collective consciousness you sometimes call the universal mind, or the mind of God.

You are the universe.

As aspects of that universal mind, you are all unique and yet you are all one.

What you experience as your life in your current physical body—what you experience as “out there” in your physical world—these are only projections of your consciousness. This includes your physical body.

None of that exists till you create it with your thoughts, with your consciousness.

Say, for example, you happen to meet a friend in the grocery store. That friend, that grocery store are merely projections of your consciousness. They have no separate identity or existence apart from your projection of them.

In this video A Course In Miracles teacher David Hoffmeister presents an interesting perspective on exactly how we create our own realities. (The video quality is a bit fuzzy, but the message is crystal-clear.)

Thank you, Susan, for sending us this video.

Naturally this info is more difficult for some to integrate for many reasons. Most of the John Cali fans will think that as one person said needs to be felt rather than understood.
However there are others who most likely are not fans of John Cali who use a different process to think(?). They have logical brains and for them things need to make sense. For those I recommend the trilogy ” My Big Toe” by Tom Campbell.
I have not yet viewed the videos because it is rather late and I want to have that recommendation out as soon as possible. The book can be read for free on Google Books. Enjoy.

Thanks very much, Ron. You make a great point — we are all different. It’s that diversity that makes life so fascinating.

Thank you, John, for posting the David Hoffmeister video. The teachings of A Course in Miracles are very different from other current teachings and David is the purest teacher that I have encountered within it so far. My thanks, also, to Beachdrifter for posting the Abraham video which I enjoyed watching (I did choose to watch the entire video). There is always a teacher who will meet us exactly where we are and I am grateful that it is so! We are all guided and we are one!

    Love and blessings to all,
    Susan

You’re most welcome, Susan. I really enjoyed David’s video. I’ve known about A Course in Miracles for many years, but never got interested in it till you came along. I’ve recently bought the text, student workbook, and teacher’s manual — I’m thoroughly enjoying all the wisdom there. As I see it, the course is a wonderful complement to my own work. So thank you so much for that.

I also watched the entire Abraham video beachdrifter told us about. Abraham and Esther, along with Seth and Jane Roberts, are among my all-time favorite spiritual teachers.

      Thanks again, Susan.

Funny thing, John — it was actually another ACIM friend who introduced me to your website! Loving oneness…

Thanks for letting me know that, Susan. As that saying puts it, what goes around, comes around. 🙂

I enjoyed today’s blog post as this subject has been on my mind recently.

I like to think of it as everyone being an actor in the play of my life. I have written the script and chosen the other actors to bring me what I want to see. Each person is bringing me valuable messages if I pay enough attention.

    • John Cali

      Thank you, Jane.

I agree — we’ve written the scripts of our lives, and need to pay attention to the messages always being delivered to us.

  4. Sarah

This topic always scatters me a little because I kind of feel it but it’s one of those things that can’t be thought through!

    • beachdrifter

I know what you mean, Sarah. It’s because it’s being approached from an angle that is not valid, and that’s why it feels off. It is off.

We come into this world with a certain perspective, and then these people like Hoffmeister come along, and talk about “clearing away false concepts” – while just introducing different, yet still false concepts…it just doesn’t get you very far. It may be a step in the right direction, because at least theoretically, some of it may feel a bit more empowering, and it introduces the consciousness aspect, but it’s not a big enough step to truly bring any real clarity to the subject – and it isn’t practical, either.

We chose the perspective we chose here for very good reasons. To then say, you are not that, but you are something else, a different perspective – and then explain things from that imagined perspective that we don’t hold – it’s simply an invalid approach. It brings so much distortion, it isn’t funny. And that’s why it scatters you.

You’re absolutely right – it cannot be “thought through” – but you can feel your way to who you are, you can experience it fully.

This video (Abraham-Hicks) has done the best job from what I’ve seen so far to give you an insight into your true perspective, starting at the 8:47 mark:

      http://youtu.be/2NYINJ9L9LQ?t=8m47s

You can feel your way to your true self, you can know it, but as soon as you try to define it through words and concepts, you lose track immediately. And that’s because those words and concepts are tools of the physical perspective that are useless to define non-physical. It’s a bit like trying to use a fishing net to catch radio waves. Nice try, but no dice! 😉

Thank you so much for this John. I have been struggling with identity recently and this has really helped. Like Sarah, my thoughts have felt scattered though but the video link that Beachdrifter gave has really helped settle me. It’s great to see negative emotions as positive guides to be welcomed rather than feared.
Thank you so so much for being out there…..no I mean part of me 🙂

        Love to one and all

Thanks very much, Margaret, for your warm response. We truly are all one.

Thanks for your replies! I am an avid follower of the Abraham Hicks material and also Eckhart Tolle. I really feel their messages deeply. When I read this blog post I was thinking ‘Yep, yep, yep, totally agree…’ and then this is the bit that makes my brain tingle hehe ‘Say, for example, you happen to meet a friend in the grocery store. That friend, that grocery store are merely projections of your consciousness. They have no separate identity or existence apart from your projection of them.’
