What Can You Expect at Death?

Miracles enable you to heal the sick and raise the dead because you made sickness and death yourself, and can therefore abolish both. ~ A Course in Miracles

According to some studies, the two things most folks fear are public speaking and death. We can avoid public speaking, but apparently not death. Or can we avoid even that?

I’m sure you’ve seen all the stories out there about near-death experiences. Many folks who return from those experiences report they’ve totally lost their fear of death. Why do you suppose that is? What do you suppose happens at the moment of death—and beyond?

Spirit

We’ve said this before, but will say it again: “Death is the easiest thing you will ever do.”

Now, we know that is not easy to believe. But you have all experienced what you call death many times. You’ve had lots of practice. You have a saying, “Practice makes perfect.”

As A Course in Miracles says in the quote Johnny posted above, “…you made sickness and death yourself, and can therefore abolish both.”

If you accept that, then you know death is simply an illusion. We admit it’s an illusion that seems very real to you. But that does not make it other than an illusion. It does not make it real.

All your loved ones who have passed through the illusion of death are still with you—right here, right now, as you read this. But you believe there is a veil separating you from them. That veil, like death itself, is an illusion. You are all one, “living” or “dead.” You always have been.

So when you decide it’s time to move from “life” to “death” your loved ones on “the other side of the veil” will make sure you know they are there with you. You may even see or hear them with your physical or spiritual vision.

Even if you’ve dreaded death all your life, your loved ones want you to make your transition easily and effortlessly. They are there to ensure you do. And you will. There are no exceptions to this.

There is nothing to fear. And even if you do fear death, know you will have help.

It’s the easiest thing you will ever do.

I hadn’t realized death is so easy, Johnny. OK, I’m ready – let’s go!

Well, it is easy. But that doesn’t mean we have to rush into it. I’ve got too much left to do still. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

“Iโ€™ve got too much left to do still.” Well, Johnny, in that case, take your own sweet time! Love, George

Death is transformation,a changing of energy….yet no one ever dies…they just change form going into another dimension and frequency of existence. As a child I was afraid of death and the great “unknown”….. now that fear has seemed to dissolve somewhat.

Thank you, Karen. I think many of us have that same experience — being afraid of death, then gradually learning it is nothing to fear.

I don’t believe it is “death” that causes so much fear as much as the potential pain involved in the way we die.

    Death, lights out, done.

It is the body that we leave, not ourselves, and everything I’ve ever been told or believe is that the spiritual “body parts, brain, etc.) have some interesting and mandatory work to do immediately, while we are surrounded by magnificent love and welcome (finally). Somehow that doesn’t sound bad to me. Perhaps I do have some fear about staying here, though. (smile)

How can you hug without a body? disturbing.

    Love to all,
    Mikala

    Hi John,

I have never been afraid of death, not even as a child. I was taught we were going to heaven when we died and who is afraid of going to heaven? Then I had a Near Death Experience as a child of 13 and experienced it for myself, even though it was much different from I was taught, but I was one with All that Is and that was Love of unimaginable proportions. On the contrary, I was distraught when I suddenly found myself back on earth and โ€˜aliveโ€™ again.

Right now I see both birth and death as doorways to a world of another dimension. When you leave one, you are born into another. Or spoken from a more non-dualistic point of view, when we die we shift our focus to another world but in reality we are in all of them all of the time, even though we are not aware of that yet.

Underneath is a link to a video about death, which is nr. 9 in a series of 10 about mysticism and shows interviews with mystics from many different traditions.

Thanks very much, Anny, for sharing your fascinating story. I’m sure our readers will enjoy it, as I did.

I view life and death the same way you do — we’re not “going” anywhere when we’re born or die. It’s just a matter of shifting our focus. As A Course in Miracles says, we’ve never left heaven. We’ve only created the illusion that we’ve left.

Thanks also for the link — I’ll watch it when I quit working today.

Hi John. Tomorrow is the 3rd anniversary of my son’s death. As I sat at the computer, looking for inspiration and comfort, I saw your email, and thought, “Wow, just what I need!” It echoes the first message our Tommy gave to a psychic family member. He told her of how easy his death had been. He knew it would be easy, and was not afraid. Tom is happy, surrounded by family and friends, and so much Love. Unconditional Love. Love, in its many aspects,is THE REASON we come to Earth, and it is what we take with us back to Spirit.

    • John Cali

Hi Tom. Thanks very much for your comments. I’m delighted Tommy’s message to your family member was so uplifting. I know what it’s like to lose the physical presence of someone you love. But it makes the loss so much easier when we truly know what lies “beyond the veil.” As you say, it’s all about Love, whether in “life” or in “death.”

I’ll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I died in 2007, it was great fun and I highly recommend it!

    • Gretchen Morin

not that I want to do it again really soon- but the fear is completely gone

  7. Karen Lee Samson

Hi Johnny, your email came in at a time where I can simply answer Death will bring Relief.
You are correct it will be the simplest thing we ever have to do in life.
Relief , after completing our tasks on Earth.

    • John Cali

Thanks very much, Karen. I hadn’t thought of death in that context. But I completely agree with you. ๐Ÿ™‚
