Steve Bhaerman, a.k.a. Swami Beyondananda, tells a wonderful story about Albert Einstein.
A reporter came to Einstein’s laboratory at Princeton to interview him. She was surprised to see a horseshoe above his door. “Professor Einstein,” she asked, “surely a man of science like you doesn’t believe a horseshoe will bring you good luck?”
“Of course not,” he replied. “I think the notion is utter nonsense.”
“Then why is that horseshoe up there?” she asked.
“Because it works whether you believe in it or not,” Einstein replied.
I love this story because when I talk with folks about creating our own realities — which is the result of using Law of Attraction for or against ourselves — many have a hard time with it. When something “bad” happens, people say, “I wouldn’t do that to myself.” Yet they accept Law of Attraction without question.
My spirit guides often tell these folks, whether they believe it or not, they create their own realities. It’s like the horseshoe.

I accept that LAO works. The I (ego) likes to interpret this as : now I can have anything I like. But my Higher Self wants something different. Say I (ego) would love to travel like a rich man, enjoying the beautiful hotels all over the world. But my Higher Self apparently wants me to work instead of being lazy. Now what?
