(Death) is a condition that we have brought upon ourselves so that we may pass into a greater condition with greater possibilities. ~ Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East
Our title today, Victory Over Death, may sound ridiculous to some folks. After all, isn’t death the ultimate victor, the winner in this game of life? Don’t all things end in death?
And, as A Course in Miracles says, “Where there is death, peace is impossible.” Are we doomed to never find peace in this lifetime? Or ever?
Spirit
The Dying Process
We’ve said this before, but it bears repeating: Dying is the easiest thing you will ever do.
It doesn’t matter how you leave your physical body. Or how it appears to others. They may see it as painful or peaceful. But to you it is always peaceful. And it’s painless, apart from whatever fleeting moments of discomfort you may have. Often, you don’t even have those.
Those who witness the “death” of another almost never perceive what is really happening. All they see is what their physical eyes show them.
Often, the consciousness of the “dying” one has left the physical body long before physical death.
That person-consciousness is on the way home. Then they are greeted with open arms by those in spirit waiting for them. It’s a joyous reunion. It is victory of death, over what was never real to begin with.
Nothing To Fear
There is nothing to fear, except fear itself, as one of your American presidents once said.
Dying is truly the easiest thing you will ever do. Life is eternal. You are eternal. You will simply go on with your life, in deep joy and peace, continuing your work of service to all that is.

In this beautiful video, the great spiritual teacher Mooji, talks about life and death, the reality and the illusion.
He reminds me of the opening words of A Course in Miracles: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

“That person-consciousness is on the way home.” What I’ve been hearing is that the evolution of human consciousness is changing the game to bringing “home” here, in the physical plane..
And stay incarnate in bliss for how long we choose before going to play elsewhere.
But whatever, that’s just my preference – if others prefer to decline and die it’s their legitimate right.
John Cali
Thanks, Tom.
I agree — if God is “all that is,” that certainly includes the physical plane. It is, as you say, a choice we can freely make — to decline and die, or to choose bliss and then move on when we decide.

Thank you, John. Having recieved your weekly emails for the past year I have found a number of your animal passing posts to be a balm for the heart and mind. It’s been a comfort to my kids as well to understand their friends are just on the other side and are happy. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my first comment. Means a lot. Not everyone understands the bonds we form with animals and the truly unconditional love they offer us.

You’re most welcome, Seth. I’m delighted you and your children have found the animal posts helpful.
I don’t think I’ve ever talked about this publicly, but my last dog, who passed over a few years ago, visits me fairly often. As Spirit says, we never lose those we love.
And as you say, our animals offer us unconditional love. That’s certainly a comfort and inspiration for animal lovers.
Blessings, John

Thank you John and Spirit. This is precisely the message I needed to hear today. We lost a gentle and joyful cat friend this week , unexpectedly from heart failure and feared that his last moments were stressful. Such a relief to know hear this message. Gratefully, Seth

You’re most welcome,Seth! I’m glad the message was timely for you.
I’m also an animal lover. So I know the feelings of facing the untimely passing of a beloved animal. My heart goes out to you. I’ll keep you in my thoughts.
You may find some comfort in this post we wrote a while back, about the deaths of our animal families:
