Do We Really Create Our Own Reality? by John Cali

Today we’re continuing our exploration of the Seth teachings, as channelled through Jane Roberts. Our earlier Seth articles were Life Is Supposed to Be Fun, Are You a Victim of Yourself? and Can We Travel to Other Dimensions?

Seth talks often of creating our own realities. In his 1974 book, The Nature of Personal Reality, he says “You make your own reality.” And “You form the fabric of your experience through your own beliefs and expectations.”

Whenever Spirit or I remind people we create our own realities, we get mixed reactions. I’d guess about half are positive and half negative.

Here are some of Spirit’s thoughts on this subject:

“This is the time to reclaim your power. You are God. You are divine. Each of you possesses all the power that goes along with being God. It’s that simple. It’s time to take full responsibility for your lives. It’s time to be your own creators and to own all of your creations, ‘good’ and ‘bad.’

“Of course there are no good or bad creations. There is only experience. Your higher selves see nothing in you or your lives as good or bad. All your higher selves care about is your experiences as conscious creators. Your higher selves do not care about anything else. However, they are not uncaring, for they love you totally and unconditionally. They applaud your courage in facing all the changes you are all experiencing right now on your planet.

“They want you to see yourselves as powerful as they see you. It’s time to quit blaming — blaming your past, your ‘mistakes,’ your parents, your teachers, your governments, the economy, etc. etc.

“You are in control. You create every part of your earthly experiences. You are not victims. You are God.”

Thank you, Michele, for your thoughtful comments.

My experience is the same as yours — when you say we create our realities, many folks say "Yes, but…." They're sitting on the fence — they'd love to believe it, but don't really believe it.

I also agree with you that we don't need to analyze how it works — we just go within and we KNOW it works. And then our experience proves it to us.

    Thanks again.

    Hugs,
    John

    Hello John,
I agree with Spirit and Seth and I understand that we each create our own reality. And it is at once an empowering and confounding knowledge.

When I hear "you create your reality" it seems to so often be qualified or followed up by something such as well, you don't create others experiences, and you don't create the weather and so on….but I like the clarity…I mean, it's either I create my reality which means all of it, including other people and their behaviors in my experience or I don't. And perhaps it's just that somethings, like the weather, are on autopilot, until I focus my attention on them.

In truth it's a concept that I can only come to terms with from the stillness within– where interestingly enough no verbal explanations are needed, there is just this knowing. But as soon as I try to engage my brain/ego, in figuring out how things work….it becomes a bit muddled especially when I listen to the many variations on what "you create your own reality" actually translates to in this time-space illusion.

This line in Spirit's message said it all and beautifully so: "You are in control. You create every part of your earthly experiences. You are not victims. You are God."

Thank you, I appreciate the simple clarity you shared.

    much love,
    Michele

Thank you very much, Shirl, for your wise words.

If more folks had your enlightened perspective, we really could have the peace on earth we all say we want.

    Love & hugs,
    John

Ah, such a perfect question. I remember vividly more than 20 years ago how truly outraged I was at the mere idea that I had been the creator of such a messy collection of experiences in my life.

Why would I possibly want to do such a thing? Create my own reality. . .really?

Of course I came to understand and see it very clearly how I had, and continued to do that very thing. How we all do by the choices we make whether they are conscious, mindful choices or even choices by default when we make no conscious choice at all.

Once we can come to understand that we are responsible for everything in our lives, that we are the creators of our reality, then we begin in earnest to take responsibility for our lives and experiences.

We are here to experience. Our choices bring us our experiences. None of them are good or bad, they are just experiences and it is how we react to them or what we do with them that matters. No one does anything to us. We choose how we interact with others and what we learn or feel about our experiences.

We are in control of ourselves and our direction. We are not in control of others or their choices of experiences. We can always change our own direction, our own perceptions of our experiences and how we choose to feel about experiences.

We are truly limitless beings with infinite power to direct our lives to the greatest JOY, LOVE, ATTAINMENT, EXPANSION, and fulfillment beyond our wildest immaginations.

I am living proof of how wonderfully any of us can choose to create a blessed and amazingly Joyful reality.

Still the most blessed being in the Universe
    Hugs and blessings to all
    Shirl
