A Note To a Friend

To the soul, there is hardly anything more healing than friendship. ~ Thomas Moore, 1779-1852

Our recent post, The Prayer of God, received some really nice comments from you, our dear readers. One of you asked if we had any more articles by the anonymous writer. Since then I’ve found several more.

We’re publishing one of those today. It’s similar in tone to The Prayer of God. I hope you’ll like it.

A Note To a Friend

Late at night, when the bottle is run dry,
the last lights welcoming the dark,
and your thoughts drifting towards sweet dreams,
I’ll be dreaming of you.

If the sunset is indescribable,
bleeding, gold, silver
and a thousand shades of red
to warm your blood
and soothe your aching heart,
you need not find the words to express it.

I shall see it also,
so the expression cannot be lost.

There will be moments of pain,
when your insecurities are too great
and your fears rest upon your shoulders
like a tiresome weight.

Come and talk to me,
and I’ll share your burden,
for I have always wished to do so.

When you’re alone,
you should remember that
I would never leave you there for too long.

I believe that regardless
of how far apart friends’ footsteps fall,
they will all fall under the same infinite heaven.

Thanks very much, Margaret. This “anonymous writer,” as someone described, is certainly talented.

    How beautiful!
I was soaking up the emanating warmth and love, with great pleasure.
Blessings to you, John. Hope you’re wrapping up warm in those sub zero temperatures!

      Thanks very much, Sarah.

We could use a little warmth here. It’s gone all the way up to zero now. 🙂 Blessings to you too, Sarah.

Are you still in Wyoming of have you moved? We have had decent weather and even mid November it’s not particularly cold.

        • John Cali

No, I’m still in Wyoming — I’ll be here the rest of my life, if all goes as planned. I have a friend in Scotland, and she says it’s been relatively warm there too.

  3. Susan

      You’re most welcome, Susan.

Glad you have only fog. It’s 10 below zero here! 🙂

Love & blessings to you too,

    I love the poem.
    What a sweet video.

What a nice way to turn out the light and go to dreamland…

Friendship is trust and play and comfort and Love. Everything that family ought to be but so often isn’t.

‘Friends are the family we make for ourselves’ as the saying goes

Thank you for this touchng reminder, John.
