Thirsty…for what?

I’ve often read that you should drink plenty of water—around 2–3 liters a day—because it benefits your health in many ways. On the other hand, drinking too much water can be harmful and may even lead to serious health issues. I’ve never felt comfortable drinking that much water. What’s your view on this?

Well, I’m always in favor of listening to your body. Your body knows what it needs—drink when you feel the need to drink.

But the real question is: Do you truly listen to your body? Do you really hear it?

What you eat and drink is often not what the body is actually asking for. Many people eat too much and consume too many unhealthy drinks containing sugar or alcohol.

If you do choose foods that are considered unhealthy, but you genuinely enjoy them, then at least allow yourself to fully enjoy them.

Also, become aware of what drives your eating and drinking habits. Are there feelings of discomfort, boredom, worry, etc. that make you drink too much alcohol? Do you feel an inner emptiness that makes you eat too many snacks or sweets?

Your body is your vehicle in this lifetime, so it deserves proper care. Most people want to grow old without disease, aches, or pain, yet their mindset isn’t truly focused on health. They assume that aging inevitably comes with health issues—and that belief can shape their reality.

Many people even begin to identify with their aches and pains, as it can bring them attention or validation from others.

Don’t follow ego-driven, unhealthy behaviors—whether physical or mental. Instead, be still. Spend time with your body, listen to it, and give it what it truly needs so it can support you as a healthy, vibrant companion on your journey through life.
