The Prayer of God

If the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is “Thank you,” that would suffice. ~ Meister Eckhart

The past few weeks I’ve been going through my house as I get ready to move. I’ve come across many stored items I’d long forgotten about. Some I’m keeping, but most I’m releasing.

I’m well organized and keep my home neat and clean. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much lighter the energy of the house feels as I clear out what I no longer want or need.

Anyway, I found a beautiful little poem written many years ago by someone near and dear to me. This person was only 9 years old at the time. The poem touched me deeply then, and still does.

I left the poem as it was originally written—no changes to words, punctuation, capitalization, etc.

I hope you enjoy it.

The Prayer of God

Sometimes no one seems to care
Sometimes life doesn’t seem too fair.
But sometimes You must look and see
That I have made life to make You free.
Never worry, never fear
Rejoice in each day You spend here.
For I live in You to make You see
That if You care, You will live in Me.

I am the God of the heavens above.
I am the One You cherish and love.
I am the Clouds of the far off sky.
I am the Hills in which some lie.
I am the Sound of the birds You hear.
I am Your Feelings, Love and Fear.

So someday You may look and see
That I love You and have set You free.
The Love I share is ever living
The Love I share is always giving.
I am the Creator of the Earth
I am the Giver of each Birth.
I live in You as You live in Me.
I love You and have set You free.

I hope you’ll enjoy the beautiful music and lyrics in this video, Let the Peace of God Reign. The tone is clearly religious. Those of you who know me personally know I am definitely not religious. Nonetheless, I enjoy beauty wherever I find it.

    Hi John,

What a beautiful poem, a stunning example of channelling. This child was really in touch with their Godself! I love the way it is written as God in the first person. Fantastic!

Best of luck with your move, John. Hope it all goes seamlessly.

    Take care.

      Thanks very much, Sarah.

The same thought occurred to me — this little person was channelling Spirit.

Thanks also, Sarah, for your kind wishes.

      Blessings,
      John

” We’re doing something a bit unusual today.”
    I laughed at that one.
This nine year old poet wouldn’t happen to be named John, would he?

I promised to keep the author anonymous — so I cannot answer your question.

      Blessings,
      John

Keep reading and re-reading this beautifully crafted poem, full of a tender loving wisdom. Quite amazing that it was written by a nine year old. Are there any more you can share with us?
All the best with your move….exciting times eh!

      Thanks very much, Margaret.

It is amazing that it was written by a nine-year-old. But then, as we all know, the youngsters are still attuned to Spirit. We adults have been “talked out of” our connection to Spirit.

There are other writings I have from this youngster. Thanks for reminding me of that. I’ll collect them into one place as I prepare to move. Then I’ll see which might be appropriate to publish on our blog.

Thanks for your good wishes, Margaret, on the move.

      Love and hugs,
      John

It will be great to read some more poems….will look forward to that. Mx

If we cannot see the god within ourselves how can we see the god within everything else. Life a dream unfolding, death a door opening, peace the pleasure of each moment and love the light that never fails.

I loved the poem, it has such tingling energy, a soaring heat that envelops all with love that is for ever!

    thank you
    love and hugs

  7. carolyn cook

Thank you for sharing this poem. I too am not religious, but the poem was touching and filled with spirit and love. I’m going to save this poem as you did and hopefully find it one day…. in the years (or months) to come and know it will bring tears to my old cynical eyes as it did this morning!!!!

    • John Cali

Thanks so much, Carolyn. I’m delighted you enjoyed it. As you said, the poem is touching, and filled with spirit and love. Even after all these years, I still find it pretty powerful.

  8. Emma

  9. Leslie

Thank you, John, you’ve brought me a deep breath this morning when it was greatly needed! Namaste!

  10. Mikala

    I can only say “WOW”!!!!!!

Both the poem and the video and music went straight to my heart. Although the video and music did come from a religious/religion, it is powerful for everyone, and especially appropriate for living today. Don’t we all seek that peace, freedom, and truth, no matter our belief system?

Thank you for this, John. it was beautiful and uplifting and filled with joy!
    Mikala

    • John Cali

      Thank you so much, Mikala.

I agree — whether we’re religious or not, the message is powerful, appropriate — and much needed in our world today. I’m delighted I could share the poem with so many through this forum.

  11. Leigh

That is a a very beautiful poem. Amazing that it came from a nine-year old. But then they say “out of the mouths of babes ….”

    • John Cali

Thank you very much, Leigh. I agree — it is amazing that it came from a nine-year-old. And that nine-year-old is now equally wise as an adult.

  12. Pat

Beautiful! May the nine year old that’s in all of us reign supreme. Here’s to hoping that the place to which you are moving be perfect for you at this time. Of course it will be.

    • John Cali

Thanks so much, Pat. Indeed — may that child within us all reign supreme. What a wonderful world that would be!

I agree — the new place will be perfect.

  13. Corine

    Dear John,

What a beautiful poem, it really touched me. God was speaking clearly through this child at the time,it has to be ,because no 9 year old can make this up. Really beautiful, thank you so much for sharing John. Love and hugs, Corine

    • John Cali

Thanks so much, Corine. I too was deeply touched by the poem when I first read it. And now today, reading it again, I’m again deeply touched.

Love and hugs to you, dear,
      John
