I pretty much gave up making new year resolutions years ago. But I’m making an exception for 2014. This year I’m resolving, simply, to love myself as I’ve never loved me before.
Here are some of my Spirit’s and my random thoughts on how we can all do just that.
- The past is over. The future does not exist. Be here now—it’s all you have.
- The only reason to look back at the past is to help you appreciate how far you have come.
- Be aware of all the beauty surrounding you—trees, flowers, animals, people, the sky, the clouds. It’s all beautiful.
- Do whatever it takes to make yourself happy.
- Laugh every day.
- Consciously schedule something fun every day.
- Tell the people in your life you love them.
- With all the people you meet, look them directly in the eye and silently say to them “Namaste.”
- Every day do one act of kindness for someone who cannot possibly reciprocate.
- Spend quiet time every day, by yourself, and just for yourself.
- Let go of situations and relationships that no longer serve you.
- Trust everything works out for your highest good—because it always does.
- Instead of working hard at life play easy at life. Life’s supposed to be fun, not hard work.
- Let your work become your play. Do only what you love.
- Play is just as important as work.
- Know you will never find a way to be happy. Being happy is the way.
- Be at peace with uncertainty.
- Embrace change, big and small. It’s life’s only constant.
- Change is always good, whether it appears so or not.
- Simplify your life. You most likely do not need all the “stuff” you’ve accumulated—physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.
- Know you are a powerful being of light.
- Know you have unique gifts and talents no one else on the planet has.
- Use your unique gifts and talents to serve others—and yourself. That’s why you came to this lifetime.
- You have a unique purpose in life. No one else is here to do exactly what you are here to do.
- All the answers to all your questions are within you.
- Everything you desire is within you.
- You are not in the universe. The universe is in you.
- Ask for all you want. You deserve it all. You can have it all. God wants you to have it all. You create it by asking for it, and knowing it is on its way to you.
- God loves you. We love you. Now go and do likewise—love yourself.
May you all have a most blessed, beautiful, and abundant New Year in 2014!
Love,
John
