Did Your Family Give You Bad Genes? by John Cali

When I was growing up there was a belief among most of my family that certain illnesses were genetic. I bought into that belief for many years—until I realized it simply wasn’t true.

Our large Italian family had many folks with heart problems. Most of them, including my father, eventually died from heart disorders. Was that genetic? I don’t think so.

I had a dear cousin who was convinced he would die from a heart attack at the age of 55—the same age his father had died of a heart attack. Guess what? He died at 55 from a heart attack.

I have a good friend, only in his mid-40s, who had a serious heart attack a few years ago. Fortunately, he recovered. I was visiting with him not long ago, and we got to talking about what had happened. He said “it runs in the family.” And he seemed resigned to eventually dying from some heart ailment or other.

Here are some thoughts from Spirit.

Spirit

  • The very act of worrying about your genes can make you sick.
  • Nothing is pre-ordained, even if “it runs in the family.”
  • Getting sick is all about vibration, not genes—vibrations from your negative thoughts, worry, anger, etc.
  • Healing from sickness is also a matter of vibration—helping your body do what it intuitively knows how to do.
  • Most of you have experienced diseases doctors would call “terminal,” but without knowing you had the diseases.
  • That’s because your bodies know how to heal themselves (often quickly) if you do not sabotage them with your negative thoughts and blocked energy.
  • When you block the flow of energy, whether you consider that energy “positive” or “negative,” your body responds to the blockage and you get sick.
  • If you allow all energy, positive or negative, to flow through you, you will not get sick.
  • Your belief in statistics can make you sick. Your belief in well-being can make you well.

The soul’s choice of family (genes), like the choice of our birth timing (astrology), and the choice of our name (numerology) all offer us potentials to work with – in most cases energies we want to balance within our soul self. So our genes give us potential weaknesses in specific physical areas that we can work with. When we choose higher awareness to look at our supposes limitations we will see the illusion of the belief that we are limited in any way, thus moving into wholeness, balance and harmony even though the outside world viewing it see it as overcoming a challenge. In actuality we were just being our true self – whole and complete and perfect. We’ve move beyond the thoughts or limitation held by mass consciousness into our mastery.
When we allow our inner light to shine out into the world any limiting vibration confronting us is unable to grab onto us, so all challenges we scripted for this incarnation dissolve in our presence.

I too could have written this article with even more details including how the family gene myth was broken. However the question which was born out of it all has to do with the relevancy or lack of it regarding the timing of transitions. Abraham says that when transitioning, dying, everyone gives their consent and has a choice of whether to stay dead or to come back immediately. We call those near death experiences.
After seeing both parents come back the question was born as to why? My mother after being dead some half a dozen times during a 17 hour operation did upon awakening declare that she had marvelous messages for us. However within hours those disappeared from her memory. So the question remains. Is the timing of our transition actually relevant?

Good question. Linear time exists only while we’re in physical form. Those in spirit do not experience time — it’s irrelevant to them.

I first encountered the concept of “simultaneous time” years ago in the Seth books. According to Seth, what we call past, present, and future all exist now, in this present moment. It’s a fascinating subject. Here’s a good explanation from Seth himself:

    Hi John,
I too believe it is yourself that can make you sick with negative thoughts like what Spirit said above. I have seen it time and time again with my Nursing and the people around me when my David was diagnosed, they said I would have tell my son to watch out etc. etc. which is so negative…I truly believe in living in the “now” . I wake up in the morning filling my thoughts with its a beautiful day, the sun shining or the rains are watering my garden, or its lovely and cold and what a great day for going for a brisk walk. Yesterday was yesterday, today is the now and tomorrow will take care of itself. I love life and what it has to offer and its challenges and I pass that on to anyone that wants to hear.
Thank you John again. a great topic to talk about.
Love and hugs to you ,
    Micki

Thanks very much, Micki. If more folks had your perspective, I think this would be a much happier world.

      Love & hugs,
      John

I fell out (laughing) when I read your subject line. Thank you (again and again.) Like you I “knew” that my fate hinged upon the fates of my ancestors. (“I’m so glad that I’ve recognized these little foibles of mine. Now I can get on to the next step: Blaming my parents.) Maybe off topic, but I love that line. Wish I knew the origin of it.
