Spiritual Cinema Circle by John Cali

You fall in love with films because films help you fall in love with life. ~ Neale Donald Walsch

I’ve been a fan of the Spiritual Cinema Circle ever since it was founded in 2004 by Hollywood filmmaker Stephen Simon and psychologists Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks. While in Hollywood Stephen produced spiritually themed movies such as Somewhere In Time, with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour, and What Dreams May Come, with Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding, Jr.

The Circle has since grown into a global community of folks who love inspiring movies with spiritual themes–movies which Hollywood doesn’t think there’s a market for.Read more

Do You Really Know Who You Are? by John Cali and Spirit

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. ~ Buddha

Is It Possible the World Really Will End on December 21? by John Cali

Today is December 1. Just 20 days from now, on December 21, we and our world will be destroyed. Or so the doomsayers, including Hollywood, say.

As “coincidence” would have it, December 21 is also the beginning of winter in the northern hemisphere—the darkest day of the year.

There are folks who believe the end is at hand because they believe the Mayan calendar predicted the end of the world on December 21, 2012.

Even if that was to happen, it would not necessarily happen to everyone on the planet.Read more

What Is Real Beauty? by John Cali

It seems to me we’re obsessed with external appearances in our world today. I often hear from folks how unhappy they are with, for example, the appearance of their physical bodies. No matter how beautiful they may be by the world’s superficial Hollywood-style standards, they can always find something wrong. So they judge themselves “ugly” or, at least, unattractive and simply not “good enough.”

My spirit guides and I have talked about this before, but true beauty—as we all know—is far more than the way our bodies look.Read more

Botox Revisited by John Cali

A while back we wrote an article, Botox and Beauty. In that article we talked about a mother who was regularly giving her eight-year-old daughter Botox injections.

Just today I came across the story of a father giving his 18-year-old daughter breast implants. The father happens to be a plastic surgeon. He’s also done plastic surgery on two older daughters, in their early 20s, and other family members.

Quite apart from the ethics of a doctor operating on his own family, I was surprised (though I should not have been) at what the 18-year-old said.… Read more

2012: The End of the World? by John Cali

Last week my spirit guides told me “Your world could end in 2012.” Not the most uplifting news to hear.

As you probably know, for years the doomsayers have been predicting the end of our world when the Mayan calendar supposedly ends in December 2012. Hollywood even made a horror movie based on that scenario.

I’m sure there are some folks whose world really will end in 2012. Let me explain.… Read more

Apocalypse by John Cali

Did you hear the world is ending tomorrow?

So says religious broadcaster Harold Camping. That’s a bit ahead of the schedule predicted by Hollywood and other “authorities.” They say it will be December 21, 2012.

I always get a chuckle when I hear these doom-and-gloom, end-of-the-world scenarios.

The Washington Post had a couple good articles on this today, here and here.

Botox and Beauty by John Cali

I’m sure many of you have seen the news reports about Kerry Campbell, the mother who’s been regularly giving her 8-year-old daughter, Britney, Botox injections. The mother-daughter duo even appeared on Good Morning America to talk about it.

Is our society so obsessed with physical beauty that many women will do anything to be Hollywood-thin and sexy? Even an 8-year-old girl, for God’s sake!… Read more
