Allowing Good Into Your Life by John Cali

One of our readers wrote us a letter recently wondering how we can eliminate what has prevented us from allowing good into our lives.

Here’s her letter and, following that, Spirit’s response.

John,

First many thanks for ALL that you and Spirit do!!! Your consistent messages of Joy with clear examples are VERY helpful. I know it should be easy to get this, but . . . Thank you both for the way you keep chipping away at it!… Read more

Technology and The Tsunami by John Cali

During the aftermath of the recent tsunami I saw several news reports about wild animals and native peoples moving to higher ground well before the storms hit. They survived the chaos unharmed.

I thought it might be interesting to get Spirit’s perspective on that.

Spirit

Your modern technology has brought you many advantages and benefits. But it has also brought you one huge disadvantage: it has lessened your reliance on your own inner guidance.

Your inner guidance, when you listen to it, is far, far more accurate and reliable than any of your modern technology.… Read more

What Is This Thing Called Love? by John Cali

Since Valentine’s Day will be here in less than a week, I thought it’d be a good idea to talk about love in this newsletter.

Many years ago, Spirit defined love this way:

“The choice to see the divinity in all beings.”

At the time that didn’t make much sense to me. In fact, it made almost no sense. But over the years I’ve come to see the wisdom and the power in that definition.

The very word, “love,” often conjures up so many confusing and conflicting images and feelings in our human minds.… Read more

We Live In Exciting Times by John Cali

The past two weeks I’ve had some fascinating personal experiences in manifesting. We live in exciting times!

Last week I was looking at a small hard pimple on my thumb. It had been there for years, and I decided I didn’t want it any more. I’m sure the medical people reading this will chastise me, but I decided to cut the thing off. So I got out some alcohol to sterilize things, and a sharp knife. When I was ready to start, I couldn’t find the pimple.… Read more

In response to our last newsletter article (Getting Out of Your Body’s Way), one of our good friends wrote us about some health problems she’d been having. She was pleasantly surprised at how easy and how much fun it was to heal herself.

Here’s her letter. Following that is Spirit’s response.

Hi John,

Hope you are staying warm. Thank you for the (last newsletter) article! I can totally relate to it.

I was talking with a friend this morning about my experience in healing my physical challenge.… Read more

As you may recall, we recently published two newsletters on physical health and well- being:Focus, Your Body, and Your Physical Well-Being and You’re Probably Going To Die From This. In response to those articles, one of our good friends sent us the following comments:

“. . . if you’re open to a follow-up question with the body theme, maybe (you could ask) Spirit HOW one gets out of one’s body’s way. I mean, I know that all (Spirit) talks about is absolutely and totally true.… Read more

That’s Not Aunt Mary by John Cali

Our thoughts often turn to our families during the holiday season. During the recent holidays, I got to thinking about my mother, Mary. She died in 1988.

In my family’s Roman Catholic religious tradition, we had “wakes” when someone died. A wake consisted of displaying the body in an open casket for several days before the funeral mass and burial. Friends and family would come to pay their respects to the dead one and her immediate family.

During my mother’s wake, two of my elderly cousins appeared one afternoon together.… Read more

How Do I View the Event? by John Cali

As this new year dawned just a few days ago, our thoughts and heartfelt compassion were directed to all those souls caught up in the earthquake and tsunami. Today (January 4), the Washington Post reported the death toll at 140,000 and climbing. Certainly a human tragedy of unimaginable proportions.

At our discussion group one of our members asked some pretty sobering questions about this event. Questions, I’m sure, that are on the minds of many. Two other of our members responded to her questions.… Read more

Well, it’s become a tradition around here, at this holiday time of year, for us to remind our readers about a couple of our more popular newsletters from years back.

In our Thanksgiving message last month, we talked about our Gratitude article. And this month we’re reminding you of our Christmas article, Peace On Earth.

This week, many of our world’s cultures celebrate Christmas. And our thoughts turn to world peace. Or, perhaps, to the lack of it. Spirit’s old message Peace On Earth is not only timely in these trying times, but also timeless.… Read more

This week we’re continuing our theme from last week: your physical body and its well-being.

A few days ago, I had a long talk with my cousin. We’re exactly the same age, and we grew up next door to each other in rural western New York State. We’ve always had a close, loving sister-brother-type relationship.

She was telling me about a recent health crisis her daughter had — she’d been diagnosed with a deadly tumor.

After the operation, her surgeon told her he’d gotten all of the tumor out, and the prognosis was excellent.… Read more

About a week ago, on a beautiful early winter day, I was out jogging in the foothills south of my house. The morning air was clear, cold, and crisp, and the deep blue sky was sparkling with golden sunlight. The gentle hills around me, the rugged mountains in the distance, and the valley far below me were covered in a glistening white cloak of new-fallen snow. My kind of day–I love winter, and I was in heaven!

About a mile into my run, my euphoria was suddenly shattered by a sharp stabbing pain in my left ankle.… Read more

A member of our discussion group recently wrote me asking if Spirit would talk about Native American spirituality in one of our newsletters. Here’s her letter:

“Hi John,

“I have no clue as to whether this would be an appropriate topic for a future newsletter, but I thought I would share this thought with you anyway.

“I have read a fair amount, but I know I am very ignorant with respect to Native American spirituality. So perhaps sometime Spirit and you could share some of the unique aspects of Native American spirituality.”… Read more

Over the years, Spirit has spoken often about gratitude, and the wonders it can create in our lives. In the USA this week we celebrate a day called Thanksgiving. A day of giving thanks for all the blessings in our lives. A day for expressing gratitude.

Though Spirit and I wrote a newsletter article many years ago called Gratitude, it’s never lost its timeliness, especially at this season of the year. And especially at this time in our human and planetary evolution.… Read more

A member of our discussion group recently asked this question of the other members:

“Have any of you ever tried to go direct to Spirit or any other advanced spirit personally, without (an) intermediary . . . like John who has learned how to listen? ‘Tis a fine line, but one that takes a lot of courage to cross, IMO. I sometimes think I am channeling but at other times I just decide I am really in the groove, creatively.”… Read more

Spirit is always reminding us we are all goddesses and gods in human form.

Recently, a good friend of ours, Phyllis Swenson, sent me a letter requesting that Spirit devote an issue of the newsletter to this subject. Because, as she said, she sometimes forgets who she really is.

Don’t we all?

Here’s Phyllis’ letter:

Hi John,

I was wondering if I can make a request to Spirit to speak to us in a future (newsletter) covering the topic of our God/Goddess natures.… Read more

A Time To Celebrate by John Cali

Some of you know I live in northwestern Wyoming just outside the USA’s Yellowstone National Park. My little town is in the Big Horn Basin, which is actually a huge valley between the Big Horn Mountains on the east and the Absaroka Mountains on the west.

Last Saturday night the weather turned cold, and the famous (or infamous, depending on your viewpoint) Wyoming wind howled all night long. In the morning I awoke to a hushed landscape.

The wind had calmed, and the mountains and valley were covered with a bright and beautiful blanket of freshly fallen snow.… Read more

We had some interesting comments on last week’s newsletter, Pay Attention To What You’re Paying Attention To. For those of you who didn’t see it, Spirit and I talked about a cooking “accident” I had. It was a kitchen fire which could have easily burned my house down.

Most of the comments were, as usual, supportive and positive. Some were not. Which is fine. I’ve always encouraged your honest feedback, positive or negative.

I don’t do this often, but this week I want to talk about the negative feedback.… Read more

Spirit is forever telling me, and others also, to pay attention to what we’re paying attention to. Or, in the case of this particular issue of the newsletter, what we’re not paying attention to.

Since we all create our own realities, if we don’t pay attention to what we’re paying attention to, we’re probably going to create something we don’t really want in our lives.

I had a great personal reminder of that fact of life recently. A most painful reminder.… Read more

“Hello John,

“Greetings to you and Spirit.

“Now that Spirit has brought it up in his recent message, what is a true understanding of soul mates?

“What is the divine purpose, if any, of this idea of soul mates? Is the re-uniting of soul mates a necessary stage in one’s return to spiritual re-connectedness?… Read more

One recent September morning I was wrestling with a couple of challenges in my personal life. I won’t say I was struggling, but it was pretty close to that.

And yet I know, especially after all these years of working with Spirit, struggle gets us nowhere. Except deeper into exactly what we’re struggling against.

I was feeling stressed and alone. These are feelings I almost never have at this point in my life.

So I gave myself a little pep talk.… Read more

As those of you who’ve been with us a while know, the focus of Spirit’s and my work is joy. In fact, Spirit says our primary purpose in life is joy.

Spirit and I are occasionally criticized, sometimes harshly, for taking this approach. But that’s okay. When you put yourself and your words out there for the world to see, the criticism comes with the territory.

I am fortunate enough to have several close friends who live in near-constant physical pain.… Read more

There are tons of “new age” gurus out there today. And, of course, many of the more traditional ones also. I suppose Spirit and I could be easily “lumped in” with all the rest.

Many of these gurus and teachers are performing a useful service, and serving a good cause. All are well-intended.

And they draw to themselves those souls needing what they and their guidance are offering, those souls who resonate with their energies.

It’s unfortunate, however, some of these teachers and gurus offer sets of spiritual principles youmust follow if you are ever to become enlightened and evolved.… Read more

The one, and only, certain key to peace–peace on earth or peace within your own hearts–is allowance.

Wyoming has to be one of the windiest, dustiest places on earth. I love it here, but there are a few challenges to living in such a place.

One of those is keeping your house clean and dust-free. Especially if you open your windows a lot, as I do, even in winter.

In early August I was getting my house cleaned and dusted in preparation for a visit from Suzy, a dear friend of many years from South Africa.… Read more

Down the road from me, one of the neighbors has a small horse ranch. I drive by it almost every day, and love watching the horses frolicking and playing. There are probably 15 or 20 of them, and they can be pretty lively.

Also living on the ranch is a cute little grey donkey. I’ve taken to calling him Old Muley.

Old Muley shares the horses’ stables and fields. And he’s often out in the fields when the horses are out.… Read more
