Earthquakes and Hurricanes by John Cali

As I’m sure most of you know, an earthquake hit Washington, DC this past Tuesday. And now, as I write this, Hurricane Irene is bearing down on the US capital city.

Earthquakes are virtually unknown in Washington, where I lived for many years before moving to Wyoming. Tuesday’s quake did considerable damage. Though, as far as I know, there were no serious human injuries or deaths. The quake rumbled through nearly one-third of the entire United States.… Read more

Candlestick Park Football Game by John Cali

I am not a sports fan, and never have been. One of the reasons is sports, at least in the USA, are far too competitive to suit my taste. This is a time when our planet needs desperately to be replacing competition with cooperation.

For those of you who are sports fans, I’m sure you know about the brawl in San Francisco at the Candlestick Park football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders. Two young men were shot and severely wounded, and may die.… Read more

Detaching by John Cali

Many years ago I was a commercial pilot and flight instructor. In our company we used small single-engine Piper aircraft to train students. One of the most challenging lessons for students (including me when I was a student) was spin control.

Many fatal aviation accidents in those days were caused by pilots losing control and spinning into the ground. So spin control was a required part of the flight curriculum.… Read more

The Rose by John Cali

Many years ago one of my favorite songs was The Rose by American singer, Bette Midler. One line of the song has stuck with me down through the years: “It’s the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live.”

A young member of our family died two Saturdays ago, on August 6. His aircraft was shot down over Afghanistan. Alex was loved by many. Here are some of the comments folks made about him:… Read more

Your Power by John Cali

In this blog we’ve recently talked about several of the Seth concepts, including life is supposed to be fun and creating our own realities. Today we’re going to talk about yet another of those concepts I first heard from Seth.

I spent many of my younger years living in the past or the future, but rarely in the present moment. I was forever wishing the present could be as good as I remembered the past. Or that it could be as good as I imagined the future.… Read more

Religion by John Cali

I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church. I practiced my religion faithfully for many years. Then I began to “lose the faith” — literally. I became disillusioned with what I perceived to be a judgemental, controlling, closed society, almost a cult. So I left.

I realize that’s not everyone’s experience with Catholicism, or any other religion. Many of my family remain faithful Catholics, and their religion brings them a peace and sense of community they would not otherwise have.… Read more

Forgetfulness by John Cali

Dr. Bernie Siegel tells a wonderful story about his marriage. Years ago he fell off his roof, hitting his head on the pavement. He developed amnesia from the injury. He said the amnesia dramatically improved his marriage with his wife Bobbie. But when his memory returned, he sought marriage counseling.

Fascinating story! After I thought about it, I realized what Bernie’s underlying message was. If we simply forget (or, in this case, cannot remember) all our past baggage, our relationships automatically improve.… Read more

Recognizing Greatness by John Cali

I’m sure at least some of you have heard this remarkable story of Joshua Bell, one of the world’s greatest violinists.

As arranged by The Washington Post, in January 2007 Bell got off the Metro at Washington, DC’s L’Enfant Plaza Station. Dressed as a nondescript young man in jeans, t-shirt, and baseball cap, he placed himself against a wall beside a trash container. He put his open violin case at his feet and threw in a few dollars and coins as an enticement to passersby.… Read more

Do We Really Create Our Own Reality? by John Cali

Today we’re continuing our exploration of the Seth teachings, as channelled through Jane Roberts. Our earlier Seth articles were Life Is Supposed to Be Fun, Are You a Victim of Yourself? and Can We Travel to Other Dimensions?

Seth talks often of creating our own realities. In his 1974 book, The Nature of Personal Reality, he says “You make your own reality.” And “You form the fabric of your experience through your own beliefs and expectations.”… Read more

Life Is Supposed to Be Fun by John Cali

We talked about Seth and Jane Roberts in two earlier blog articles: Are You A Victim of Yourself? and Can We Travel To Other Dimensions?

Our title today is one of the Seth concepts I adopted when I first started reading the Seth books many years ago. It’s a tough concept for many folks to accept. How can this valley of tears possibly be fun?… Read more

Crystal Child by John Cali

We recently received an email from a newsletter subscriber. She was asking about her 12-year-old son. Here’s part of her email:

“I’m the mother of a 12 year old ‘crystal child’ and I’d love some parenting advice. Can (my spirit guides) talk about these ‘new’ children? He eats funny (he has a very limited diet and isn’t willing to try new things), he’s in constant motion (sitting still is quite difficult), he is VERY headstrong (he doesn’t want to learn at all from any of my experience).… Read more

Do You Know Who You Are? by John Cali

Kirk Douglas, legendary American actor and icon, told a thought-provoking little story some years ago.

Kirk was driving down the freeway in southern California when he spotted a young man hitchhiking. He pulled over and the youngster jumped in.

It was only after he was in the car that he took a look at Kirk. With a shocked expression on his face, he blurted out  “Do you know who you are?”… Read more

Heart to Heart by John Cali

Merle

Last week I finished reading a wonderfully uplifting book called Heart to Heart, from which I took the title of this week’s newsletter article.

John Cali

The book, by world-renowned British animal communicator, Pea Horsley, was a gift to me from my dear friend Barbara Clark.

The book, as you might imagine, is about Pea’s work with animals. She’s not only a gifted animal communicator, but also a great writer. In her warmhearted way, she’ll have you alternately laughing and crying as she tells of helping people the world over find lost pets.… Read more

Self-Love by John Cali

A Gallup poll a while back reported 2 out of 3 Americans suffer from low self-esteem and, presumably, a lack of self-love. That’s nearly 70 percent of the USA’s population!

The poll didn’t talk about other countries, but I’d guess it’s about the same as in the United States.

There’s been a steady, years-long stream of folks suffering from a lack of self-love and self-esteem coming to us for private sessions with Spirit. There have also been some of my close family and friends who’ve talked with me about their lack of self-love and self-esteem.… Read more

Self-Esteem by John Cali

A Gallup poll I recently read about said 2 out of 3 Americans suffer from low self-esteem. That’s almost a whopping 70 percent of the population!

John Cali

I’d guess the numbers are about the same for most other countries, though I don’t know for sure.

Other interesting facts about self-esteem:

Self-esteem expert and best-selling author Jack Canfield says the average child hears 432 negative statements every day, but only 32 positive statements.

The California Task Force for Personal and Social Responsibility has this to say:

About 80 percent of humans suffer psychological damage from words.… Read more

You and Your Soul by John Cali

John Cali

We received an intriguing question from one of our readers recently. Here it is:

Having given this quite a bit of thought, I am still unable to grasp what part our soul plays in our earthly experience.

Can you shed some light on this?

Spirit

First of all, friends, it’s important for us, at the outset here, to get clear on the relationship between you and your soul.

Your soul decided, before you incarnated into this lifetime, the where, the how, the who, etc.… Read more

Now Is All You Have by John Cali

About 25 years ago, when I first got serious about my spiritual path, I read all the Seth books. If you’re not familiar with Seth, he’s a spirit guide channeled by the late Jane Roberts in Upstate New York. Over the years, Jane and her husband, Rob Butts, produced many wonderful books of Seth’s far-reaching wisdom.

While some of Seth’s teachings went beyond my intellectual grasp, most of them resonated deeply with me.

I came away from reading and re-reading Seth’s books many times over the years with three major concepts.… Read more

Suicide: A Solution? by John Cali

John Cali

A reader recently wrote us this letter:

“Have you published anything about suicide? A friend of mine is depressed, and he’s considering it. I think it’s foolish unless there is absolutely no hope, and that’s an extremely rare case at best.

“Are there occasions when suicide is the only solution?”

Here’s Spirit.

Spirit

We are delighted to offer you, for your consideration, our view of this often weighty subject.

Our reader asked if there are occasions when suicide is the only solution.… Read more

For Sale By Owner: Are You Getting What You Want Out of Life? by John Cali

John Cali

I realize that’s a screwy-sounding title. Let me explain.

The other day I was out walking home from jogging in my semi-rural neighborhood. I passed a house with a “For Sale By Owner” sign planted in the front yard next to the road. The only problem was the owners had parked their truck directly in front of the sign.

No one driving by would have been able to see the sign. The only reason I saw it was because I was walking.Read more

Creating Your Own Joyful Reality, Part 4 & Conclusion by John Cali

posted in: Articles, Blog, life purpose | 0

John Cali

This will conclude our series on creating your own joyful reality. Finally!

As you probably remember, last week Spirit responded to one of our reader’s comments on his article from the previous week. He dealt with the first part of her comments last week, and this week he handles the last part.

Spirit’s original comments

It’s really an “either-or” situation. You are a creator or you’re not. Or, more accurately, you’re always a creator. The “either-or” part is you either create deliberately or you create by default.… Read more
