Is There An Afterlife? by John Cali

One of our readers recently sent us a question about the afterlife. Here’s her letter (which I’ve partially edited to omit unrelated information):

“Lately I’ve been wondering if there really is an afterlife, a creator….My brother died about a month ago, and my thoughts have turned to what happens when you die. I have so much doubt right now. Maybe we are just an accident of the universe.”

 Here’s Spirit’s reply:

There are no accidents. There are no coincidences. We—all of us in spirit and all of you in physical—are eternal.Read more

What Is Time? by John Cali

Time is often the greatest challenge many of us face in our daily lives—specifically, the lack of time. Many of us are forever complaining we do not have enough time. But each of us has all the time there is. That’s a seeming dilemma—or is it? Exactly what is time?

According to my spirit guides, time is only perception. I agree with them. In the realms of spirit time does not exist. Spirit transcends time and space. Here are some of Spirit’s thoughts about time:

  • The more you rush through your lives, the less time you have.

You Do Not Have A Soul by John Cali

I grew up in a religious tradition that taught us we could easily “lose” our souls if we did the “wrong” deed, thought the “wrong” thought, etc. etc. “Saving” our souls was our primary purpose in life.

That was then. This is now. And now I’ve realized we do not have a soul. We are our souls. Here’s what spirit said about it years ago.Read more

Are You Happy? Part 2 by John Cali

We had some interesting and insightful responses to our article, Are You Happy?, earlier this week. So today we’re going to talk again about happiness.

Here are a few more of my favorite happiness quotations:

  • Through practices of self-awareness, you will establish an unshakable baseline of happiness through all of life’s ups and downs. ~ Deepak Chopra
  • Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.

Are You Happy? by John Cali

Spirit and I have talked about happiness many times over the years. Although they and I firmly believe we were meant to be happy in this lifetime, no matter what our circumstances, I know so few truly happy people. Often that’s because they look for happiness where they will never find it.

Today I want to share with you some of my favorite happiness quotations:

  • Remember happiness doesn’t depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think.

Garage Sales and Manifesting What You Want by John Cali

What do garage sales have to do with manifesting what you want?

Last weekend a couple of my neighbors had a garage sale. They put a sign in the street at the end of their driveway. The sign was so small and the lettering so faint, I wondered how folks driving by would even see the sign. How did my neighbors expect to attract potential customers?

This reminded me of another similar incident we wrote about many years ago in an article titled For Sale By Owner.… Read more

The Theology of Fear by John Cali

The Theology of Fear is the title of a new book by Father Emmett Coyne, a Jesuit Roman Catholic priest.

Having grown up as a Roman Catholic and graduating from a Jesuit college, I’m familiar with the issues Father Coyne raises in his excellent, well-written book.

Here are some of Father Coyne’s concerns:

  • He’s disturbed that Jesus’ love for humans has taken a back seat to the Vatican’s desire to preserve its political power at all costs.
  • He rightly points out the Vatican is the only religious-political entity on the planet.

Is Violence Ever Justified? by John Cali

Interesting question, and one that has been asked forever it seems.

One of my favorite spirit guides is Seth, channelled by Jane Roberts. Seth once said this: “There is never any justification for violence. There is no justification for hatred. There is no justification for murder.”

And he said this:

“No one dies who has not made the decision to do so. Your existence before and after death is as normal as your present life.”

Most of our world today condemns violence, hatred, and killing.… Read more

Exactly What Is Intuition? by John Cali

Alan Alda, one of my favorite actors, once said “At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”

One of our readers had an interesting response to our recent blog post, Do You Trust Your Intuition? Here’s his email, which I’ve slightly edited:

Like in your example,a car did go through a red light and I ran into it last December, totaling my car.… Read more

Do You Resist Change? by John Cali

As I’ve been moving through the latest changes in our work (and my personal life) I was reminded of an article we wrote 3 years ago. Appropriately titled Change, it talks about that inescapable fact of life – change. Inescapable, yes – so why do we resist it so much?

Listen to Spirit’s wise words here.

What is your relationship with change? Do you resist it, or embrace it? Please share with us below.

We welcome your comments and thoughtful opinions, whether you agree or disagree with us.… Read more

Is This the Age of Too Much Information? by John Cali

Free Range Eggs

Did you know eggs can kill you? The other day I saw a short news video about a new study. It concluded egg yolks are almost as dangerous to your health as smoking. That surprised the hell out of me!

The two newscasters cited other, conflicting, studies, some of which concluded eggs were perfectly safe. In moderation, of course.

Those of you who follow food and nutrition news know this controversy has been raging for years.

So what are ordinary folks like you and me supposed to do?… Read more

How To Be Happy by John Cali

The Best Thing To Wear Is a Smile

The past few weeks we’ve been updating our computer systems and website (again!). Since I’m basically a one-person operation, it’s taking much of my time and energy.

So this week we’re revisiting a newsletter article we published a while back, on the subject of happiness. That topic generates seemingly endless conversation.

My spirit guides have always said happiness is a choice we can freely make. Not everyone agrees with that, as you’ll see in this newsletter article.… Read more

Learning To Love Yourself by John Cali

Do you love yourself unconditionally? If you’re like most of us, the answer is almost certainly “No.” Are you looking for that “one and only” romantic relationship? Many folks are.

Spirit has said, many times, if we don’t fall head-over-heels in love with ourselves first we can never love others well.

This is a funny video with a serious message. I think you’ll enjoy it. (Beware, however, especially if you’re sensitive – the video has some rough language.)

Do you feel comfortable with the idea of falling head-over-heels in love with yourself?… Read more

An End To War by John Cali

Flag of Peace

How many of us have asked “Will there ever be an end to war?” I have many times, and you probably have too. I know the ultimate answer is “Yes.” But will we see it in our lifetimes?

Harry Patch, the last surviving British soldier from World War 1, died a few years ago, on July 25, 2009. He was 111 years old.

Harry once said “War is organised murder, and nothing else.”

Here’s Spirit.

Talking To Animals: Followup by John Cali

I thought we’d follow up our last blog post, Talking To Animals, with some of Spirit’s thoughts on animals, specifically domestic household pets.

Spirit

Pets are not in your lives solely for your entertainment, though they certainly do entertain you. More importantly, pets are here as your teachers and, often, your healers.

You have a phrase bandied about much – “dumb” animals. By “dumb” you generally mean “stupid.” Or at least something less than human intelligence.

Nothing could be farther from the truth.… Read more

Playing at Growing Older by John Cali

Most of the folks I know, especially in my age group, dread growing older. And for many, when they reach a certain point, the process truly is dreadful.

But that is not the way it has to be. Nor, do I believe, is it the way it’s supposed to be.

Here’s a magnificent man who proves growing older can be joyful and fun.

And here’s Spirit

As we’ve said many times over the years, life is supposed to be fun.… Read more

The End of Life by John Cali

Last weekend around the dinner table, I was talking to some of my family about death. Not a subject most people want to sit around casually discussing at dinner. But death comes to us all, and we all think about it, at least now and then. Not necessarily in a somber, macabre way, but in simply acknowledging death is part of life.

Many years ago, I read the book Final Exit by Derek Humphry. As the book’s subtitle says, it’s about “the practicalities of self-deliverance and assisted suicide for the dying.”… Read more

Politics and Love by John Cali

Last week, as most of you know, we had some technical problems with our mailing list. The result was the link to our blog post, The Politics of Tragedy, wrongly redirected you to an earlier post titled Love.

Briefly, The Politics of Tragedy talked about how US President Obama and Mitt Romney, his opponent in the upcoming presidential election, temporarily put aside their bitter, personal, negative attacks on each other in the wake of the mass murders in Aurora, Colorado.… Read more

Spirit Oracle Cards by John Cali

As you may know, we published our first Spirit oracle cards recently. They’re now available here:

So far the responses have been delightfully positive. Here’s an example:

“Brilliant Product That Connects Us To Spirit In a More Tangible Way!

“The messages are BEAUTIFULLY written. They’re truly oracles. The art work is also very impressive. It’s stunning the cards really answer a question I have in mind every time I withdraw one of them. Every time this happens my heart beats faster in total amazement.… Read more

The Politics of Tragedy by John Cali

Just yesterday we published a blog post, Politics As Usual. Here’s part of what I said in that post:

“I don’t pay much attention to politics and political news because it’s often so negative and adversarial. You know, politics as usual. This is especially true of my country, the United States. And it’s probably true of other countries.”

As many of you know, the current US presidential campaign has turned into a nasty, negative, and hostile thing. But today that changed, at least for the moment — because of the human tragedy unfolding in Aurora, Colorado, where many dozens were killed or wounded in a seemingly senseless act of violence.… Read more

Perspective Is Everything by John Cali

The comments we got in response to our last blog post, Hell on Earth, turned into a lively discussion on perspective. I found it curious to read all the various perspectives on perspective.

As we all know, our personal perspective can influence our lives positively or negatively.

Here’s a magnificent real-life example of how our perspective can powerfully and positively influence our lives. This one will probably bring tears to your eyes.

Over the years my spirit guides have talked many times about how perspective — the way we choose to view our lives, no matter how “good” or “bad” those lives may be — can either sink us or help us swim.… Read more

Hell on Earth by John Cali

 Death Valley

A couple months ago an old childhood friend died. I don’t know all the circumstances, as he and I had lost touch with each other some years ago. But I did see his sister not long before his death. She said he was well and happy. He’d been a marathon runner for many years.

Was there any connection between his marathon running and his death? I don’t know. Some medical experts say marathon running can actually damage the human heart, rather than making it stronger.… Read more

Spirit’s Friday Frolics — A Parting Shot by John Cali

As you know by now, we’ve discontinued our Spirit’s Friday Frolics because of an apparent lack of interest. However, we decided to do what you might call a “parting shot” — a last funny video sent to me by a dear friend. Thank you, Eoin!

I find it rather interesting we should be publishing this blog post about laughter on Friday the 13th — which, for superstitious people, is a day of “bad luck.”

As one of the folks commenting on the video said, “Laughter is a good medication for worries, sadness and depression….Laughter… Read more

Animal Angels by John Cali

Animal Angels

As one of our readers pointed out in a recent blog post, we often talk about animals in our articles and posts. One of the reasons is I love all animals, as do my spirit guides.

I’m away from home until next week. So we’re repeating one of our animal articles from half a dozen years ago. It’s a touching story that happened to me personally. It demonstrates we never lose those we love, even beyond the veil of death.… Read more
