Right and Wrong by John Cali

I recently heard a wonderfully wise and witty speech by Brene Brown. She talked briefly about religion:

“Religion has gone from a belief in faith and mystery to certainty. I’m right, you’re wrong, shut up.”

That superior condescending attitude applies not only to religion, but also to other areas of our modern society. Politics, for example. And even personal relationships.… Read more

Is Food Your Friend or Foe? by John Cali

There are so many articles about food on the internet today, it’s often mind-boggling. The articles cover just about every food subject you can imagine: dieting (a big one), additives, preservatives, processing, genetic modifying, vegetarianism, etc. etc.

Are you confused? I can certainly understand if you are. Even the “experts” seem confused at times. I’ve got friends and family who analyze their food endlessly before they dare to take a bite. I used to be that way myself. I’m a vegetarian now, and that certainly makes things a little simpler.… Read more

Affirmations from Spirit by John Cali

Every now and then, my spirit guides suggest affirmations to me and also to others, especially in private readings. Here are a few recent affirmations:

  • My body will last as long as I choose to live.
  • It will be in good health until the day I die.
  • I have an abundance of money.
  • If the flow of money to me slows to a trickle, I know there’s much more coming to me.
  • I am “lucky” in so many ways.
  • Whatever I need always comes to me.

Do You Know Who You Are? by John Cali

Kirk Douglas, legendary American actor and icon, told a thought-provoking little story some years ago.

Kirk was driving down the freeway in southern California when he spotted a young man hitchhiking. He pulled over and the youngster jumped in.

It was only after he was in the car that he took a look at Kirk. With a shocked expression on his face, he blurted out  “Do you know who you are?”… Read more

I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

In two days the USA will celebrate its annual Thanksgiving holiday. For most Americans it’s an important celebration, and the prelude to the December holiday season.

Thanksgiving, as the name indicates, is about giving thanks for all the blessings we have in our lives. Leaders, political and religious, urge us to be grateful for the good we enjoy, usually things such as our health, homes, families, friends, jobs, etc.… Read more

Why There Is No Peace on Earth and What You Can Do About It: Snoopy and The Red Baron by John Cali and Spirit

Wisdom born of experience should tell us that war is obsolete. There may have been a time when war served as a negative good by preventing the spread and growth of an evil force….if we assume that life is worth living, if we assume that mankind has the right to survive, then we must find an alternative to war. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Back in the days when I was a young pilot, Charles Schulz’s Peanuts comic strips were at the peak of their popularity.Read more

God’s Will by John Cali

A happy outcome to all things is sure. ~ A Course in Miracles

The heart and love of GodThe Heart and Love of God

How often have you heard someone say (usually when something “bad” happens), “Oh well, it’s God’s will.” I often cringe when I hear it. It’s almost as if people think God (or Goddess) wills only bad things for us. And that we have no choice in the matter. There was a mantra of sorts I was brought up with as a kid: “Lord, thy will, not mine, be done.”Read more

Multi-Tasking by John Cali

So many of us in today’s world are feeling hassled and pressured to do more and more, and faster and faster. Time becomes the curse of our lives — there’s never enough of it. Or so it seems.

The other day I was talking to an old friend I’ve known all my life. He’s retired and can pretty much do as he pleases with his time. But he was complaining that his life is far too busy. He said some days he spends as much as six hours or more on the phone.… Read more

The average child laughs 150 times a day, the average adult only 15. Do the math. Do the aftermath. ~ Steve Bhaerman, aka Swami Beyondananda

Have fun

My first real flying job was managing a small airport in West Texas. I was sort of a jack-of-all-trades — manager, flight instructor, charter pilot, bookkeeper, etc. You name it, and I did it.

In my role as charter pilot, I met a Mr. H. Allen Smith. He often hired our services so he could indulge his passion as a gadabout.… Read more

Angels at Play: Another View of Life’s Other Side by John Cali

Last week’s newsletter title was Beyond the Veil: Life’s Other Side. Well, this week, we’ll talk about another view of life’s other side. A view, at least from a human perspective, that is a bit lighter than last week’s.

A couple of weeks ago, Wyoming’s weather gave us a break, gracing us with a warm, pleasant evening. Winter often comes early in this high country, and we’d already had snow in early September.

So I took advantage of the weather to sit out in the backyard and catch up on my reading.… Read more
