Life, Depression, and Happiness by John Cali

In our last post, After You Read This You’ll Never Need To Make Another New Year Resolution Again, I mentioned I no longer regularly make new year resolutions—though I did make one for 2014. You can read the post for more details.

And in 2013 I made another resolution, though not at the new year. Let me explain.

Many of the folks I work with, and also some of those among my family and friends suffer from depression.Read more

After You Read This You’ll Never Need To Make Another New Year Resolution Again by John Cali and Spirit

NewYearsResolution1915FirstPostcard

I pretty much gave up making new year resolutions years ago. But I’m making an exception for 2014. This year I’m resolving, simply, to love myself as I’ve never loved me before.

Here are some of my Spirit’s and my random thoughts on how we can all do just that.

  • The past is over. The future does not exist. Be here now—it’s all you have.
  • The only reason to look back at the past is to help you appreciate how far you have come.

Crossing the Rainbow Bridge by John Cali

Yesterday morning another one of our furry family crossed over to the far side of the Rainbow Bridge—that place where we will all meet again some day.

Here are some of Spirit’s comforting words to soothe us in those times when our loved ones cross over:

  • Your “dead” animals often return to visit you. (As do your human loved ones.)
  • They often have a desire, from beyond the grave, to help you and to continue loving you.

Christmas Truces and Other Ironies of War by John Cali

As a former commercial pilot, I had lots of exciting adventures (and a few brushes with death)—some of which I’ve talked about in these posts over the years.

But I never had an experience like that of Lieutenants Charlie Brown and Fritz Stigler, both World War 2 pilots. They met on December 20, 1943, 5 days before Christmas, in skies over Germany.

Charlie was a US bomber pilot returning to England after an attack on Germany.Read more

Do You Struggle With the Holidays? by John Cali

George_c_scott_as_scroogeGeorge C. Scott as Scrooge by Bob Doucette

David O. Selznick, the legendary Hollywood filmmaker, once said “I’m so depressed. Christmas is the worst of all. Holidays are terrible, worse than Sundays. I get melancholia.”

Some of my family and friends struggle with the holidays, particularly the winter holidays. (Or summer, if you’re in the southern hemisphere.) Like Scrooge and Selznick, they dread to see them coming each year—whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, etc. etc.

Aren’t we missing the whole point of the holiday season?Read more

How To Have a Healthy Body All Your Life by John Cali and Spirit

Hope_Peace_Joy_(4207698474)Holiday Candles by Rennett Stowe

With the holidays upon us again, our thoughts turn to celebrations. And celebrations sometimes lead to overindulgence. Overindulgence, in turn, leads to thoughts of how we can create healthier bodies.

Here are a few tips from Spirit.

Spirit

  • Love your body unconditionally—exactly as it is right here and right now. It is part of you, your spirit. You chose it—now cherish it for the gift it is.
  • Your body needs quiet time—meditate regularly. It doesn’t have to be a long time.

Nelson Mandela 1918-2013 by John Cali

One of my all-time greatest heroes is Nelson Mandela. He showed us the impossible is possible if we never give up.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from this great man:

  • It always seems impossible until its done.
  • Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
  • I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

The Challenges of Romantic Relationships by John Cali

One of the biggest issues folks want to talk about, especially in personal readings with my spirit guides, is relationships—particularly romantic relationships. As we all know, even the closest, most loving relationships have their challenges, their ups and downs.

Here is a perspective on romantic relationships from one of my spirit guides:

Remember what you felt at the outset: the passion, the pleasure, the sheer joy of being in each other’s physical presence.Read more

Joy Is What Life Is All About by John Cali

This is probably the shortest blog post we’ve ever published.

My spirit guides have said our only real measure of success is the amount of joy we feel as we travel life’s road.

Music has the power to bring so much joy into our lives, and to unite us with one another — to help us remember we are all one. En-JOY this video.

Spirit’s Friday Frolics for June 29, 2012 by John Cali

Smiley-3D

This is our second edition of Spirit’s Friday Frolics, a weekly blog post published every Friday.

As we all know, laughing and having fun are good for us. Spirit has talked about this many times. Here are a few snippets:

Laughing is one of the most powerful ways to feel good, and to heal. Best of all, it’s freely available to you at any moment you choose. Make your life a laughing matter. Then you will soar.

Your life is supposed to be fun.… Read more

Spirit’s Friday Frolics for June 22, 2012 by John Cali

This week we’re starting something new: Spirit’s Friday Frolics. This will be a weekly blog post, published every Friday.

As we all know, laughing and having fun are good for us. Spirit has talked about this many times. Here are a few snippets:

How To Breathe by John Cali

Sounds like a silly title, doesn’t it? Breathing is the most natural process, requiring no conscious attention to it. But most of us don’t know how to breathe well. Nor do we know how to tap into the tremendous power of simple breathing.

My spirit guides often recommend conscious, deliberate breathing exercises, especially to those with anxiety, fear, and other similar issues.

One of the biggest challenges you face in your modern world is stress. Your technology, as powerful and useful as it is, is one major source of stress in your lives.… Read more

Farewell to Rosie by John Cali

Yesterday my dear friend, Barbara Clark, bid farewell to her beloved Rosie. Rosie, a rough collie, had been with Barbara over 14 years, almost since she was a newborn puppy.

I know many of you reading this care deeply for your own dogs, and for all animals. My spirit guides say we never lose those we love, human or animal. But still, we’re sad because we miss the warmth of their physical presence and the unconditional love shining brightly in their eyes.… Read more

The Peaceful Mind by John Cali

In our article two weeks ago we talked about the ways modern society poisons our minds. This week we’re talking about the opposite end of the spectrum — the peaceful mind.

Meister Eckhart once said “The quieter the mind, the more powerful, the worthier, the deeper, the more telling, and more perfect the prayer is.”

I’ve been meditating over 30 years, though I do not consider myself an expert at it. I continually explore the teachings of those I do consider experts, such as Eckhart Tolle in our video of the week.… Read more

The Raccoon by John Cali

Strange title for a spiritual newsletter article, isn’t it?

My spirit guides often say animals can be our best teachers. Even most of those creatures who’ve been horribly abused by humans rarely seem to lose their capacity for joy, love, and simply being fully present in the moment.

Mary Cummins of Animal Advocates in California took a raccoon under her wing after authorities found the poor creature in a two-by-two-foot cage. He’d been imprisoned there four years, without adequate food or water.… Read more

Talking To God by John Cali

One of the most common questions folks ask us is “How can I communicate with my higher self?” Or “How can I talk to God?” Both are essentially the same question.

Another question we’re asked is “How can I begin to channel?” But, again, it’s the same question.

My spirit guides have always said we cannot not talk to God, because God is always talking to us — and in many ways. It’s just that we’re not always listening.

Here is a great short video from Neale Donald Walsch about not only how to talk to God, but also how to get answers.… Read more

Three-Minute Healing by John Cali

In an earlier article on this blog, Do You Believe in Miracles?, we talked about so-called “miraculous” healings. What that usually means is medical science cannot explain the healings. But there’s really nothing miraculous about them.

As Spirit has said, “Miracles are nothing extraordinary. They are, indeed, the most ordinary events in the lives of you, gods and goddesses in human form….”… Read more

Why There Is No Peace on Earth and What You Can Do About It: Snoopy and The Red Baron by John Cali and Spirit

Wisdom born of experience should tell us that war is obsolete. There may have been a time when war served as a negative good by preventing the spread and growth of an evil force….if we assume that life is worth living, if we assume that mankind has the right to survive, then we must find an alternative to war. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
