Where Do Dead People Go? by John Cali

One of our readers asked us what life after death is like. Death is a subject many of us avoid if at all possible. Why do you suppose that is? Probably because we fear it more than anything. And why do you suppose that is?

My personal opinion is we fear death because we often consider it the end of us. Even many who say they believe in the afterlife are scared of death. I think that’s because we do not know what death really is.… Read more

How Can We Help Others Heal? by John Cali

One of our readers recently asked us this question:

“When a group meditates and sends love/light/positive energy to a place or people or situation, can this help with healing?”

He also asked several related questions. These included:

  • The ideal size of the group.
  • Specific meditations or techniques.
  • Whether a small group could positively affect our entire society.
  • The number of repetitions needed.
  • And, in general, how to improve a group’s healing effectiveness.

Here are Spirit’s thoughts:

The best way you can help others heal is to heal yourself first.… Read more

Remembering Violence and Terror by John Cali

You may recall it was 10 years ago this month the Washington, DC area in the United States was terrorized for 23 days by mysterious, random sniper shootings. Before the police found the two killers, 3 people were wounded and 10 killed. All 13 were strangers to the killers.

At that time I was temporarily living in the Washington area. I clearly remember the energy of fear and terror, as the whole metropolitan area was brought to its knees. Schools were turned into fortresses.… Read more

Is Suicide Ever Justified? by John Cali

In our last blog post, Is The World Driving You Crazy?, we talked about a family murder-suicide. I know this is a tough subject for many folks.

Objections to suicide, including assisted suicide, range across the spectrum—religious, legal, spiritual, practical, and so on. It’s a contentious subject with widely varying and conflicting opinions.

Years ago, in a message I found very comforting, Spirit spoke of suicide. Read it here.

Are You Trying To Save the World? by John Cali

Lately, for whatever reason, I’ve been hearing a lot from folks having a tough time with what’s happening on our planet today—the wars, corruption, financial collapses, crime, etc. etc. They feel lost and lonely, despairing of ever being able to change things for the better.

Is our world going to hell in a handbasket? Is there any hope, any light at the end of the tunnel?

Here’s Spirit.

You did not come to this lifetime to right the wrongs of the world.… Read more

Is There An Afterlife? by John Cali

One of our readers recently sent us a question about the afterlife. Here’s her letter (which I’ve partially edited to omit unrelated information):

“Lately I’ve been wondering if there really is an afterlife, a creator….My brother died about a month ago, and my thoughts have turned to what happens when you die. I have so much doubt right now. Maybe we are just an accident of the universe.”

 Here’s Spirit’s reply:

There are no accidents. There are no coincidences. We—all of us in spirit and all of you in physical—are eternal.… Read more

You Do Not Have A Soul by John Cali

I grew up in a religious tradition that taught us we could easily “lose” our souls if we did the “wrong” deed, thought the “wrong” thought, etc. etc. “Saving” our souls was our primary purpose in life.

That was then. This is now. And now I’ve realized we do not have a soul. We are our souls. Here’s what spirit said about it years ago.… Read more

Garage Sales and Manifesting What You Want by John Cali

What do garage sales have to do with manifesting what you want?

Last weekend a couple of my neighbors had a garage sale. They put a sign in the street at the end of their driveway. The sign was so small and the lettering so faint, I wondered how folks driving by would even see the sign. How did my neighbors expect to attract potential customers?

This reminded me of another similar incident we wrote about many years ago in an article titled For Sale By Owner.… Read more

Is Violence Ever Justified? by John Cali

Interesting question, and one that has been asked forever it seems.

One of my favorite spirit guides is Seth, channelled by Jane Roberts. Seth once said this: “There is never any justification for violence. There is no justification for hatred. There is no justification for murder.”

And he said this:

“No one dies who has not made the decision to do so. Your existence before and after death is as normal as your present life.”

Most of our world today condemns violence, hatred, and killing.… Read more

Do You Resist Change? by John Cali

As I’ve been moving through the latest changes in our work (and my personal life) I was reminded of an article we wrote 3 years ago. Appropriately titled Change, it talks about that inescapable fact of life – change. Inescapable, yes – so why do we resist it so much?

Listen to Spirit’s wise words here.

How To Be Happy by John Cali

The Best Thing To Wear Is a Smile

The past few weeks we’ve been updating our computer systems and website (again!). Since I’m basically a one-person operation, it’s taking much of my time and energy.

So this week we’re revisiting a newsletter article we published a while back, on the subject of happiness. That topic generates seemingly endless conversation.

My spirit guides have always said happiness is a choice we can freely make. Not everyone agrees with that, as you’ll see in this newsletter article.… Read more

An End To War by John Cali

Flag of Peace

How many of us have asked “Will there ever be an end to war?” I have many times, and you probably have too. I know the ultimate answer is “Yes.” But will we see it in our lifetimes?

Harry Patch, the last surviving British soldier from World War 1, died a few years ago, on July 25, 2009. He was 111 years old.

Harry once said “War is organised murder, and nothing else.”

Here’s Spirit.

Playing at Growing Older by John Cali

Most of the folks I know, especially in my age group, dread growing older. And for many, when they reach a certain point, the process truly is dreadful.

But that is not the way it has to be. Nor, do I believe, is it the way it’s supposed to be.

Here’s a magnificent man who proves growing older can be joyful and fun.

And here’s Spirit

Politics and Love by John Cali

Last week, as most of you know, we had some technical problems with our mailing list. The result was the link to our blog post, The Politics of Tragedy, wrongly redirected you to an earlier post titled Love.

Briefly, The Politics of Tragedy talked about how US President Obama and Mitt Romney, his opponent in the upcoming presidential election, temporarily put aside their bitter, personal, negative attacks on each other in the wake of the mass murders in Aurora, Colorado.… Read more

Perspective Is Everything by John Cali

The comments we got in response to our last blog post, Hell on Earth, turned into a lively discussion on perspective. I found it curious to read all the various perspectives on perspective.

As we all know, our personal perspective can influence our lives positively or negatively.

Here’s a magnificent real-life example of how our perspective can powerfully and positively influence our lives. This one will probably bring tears to your eyes.

Over the years my spirit guides have talked many times about how perspective — the way we choose to view our lives, no matter how “good” or “bad” those lives may be — can either sink us or help us swim.… Read more

Animal Angels by John Cali

Animal Angels

As one of our readers pointed out in a recent blog post, we often talk about animals in our articles and posts. One of the reasons is I love all animals, as do my spirit guides.

I’m away from home until next week. So we’re repeating one of our animal articles from half a dozen years ago. It’s a touching story that happened to me personally. It demonstrates we never lose those we love, even beyond the veil of death.… Read more

Materializing, Dematerializing, and Other Illusions by John Cali

I’ve always been fascinated by this subject. But I didn’t really believe it was possible. That is, until I saw it happen right before my eyes.

One day many years ago I was leaving my office to go home. I went to my car, reached in my pocket for my car key. It wasn’t there. I looked in the driver’s side window, and there was my key, still in the ignition. Since I locked all the doors, I had a problem.… Read more

The Power of Perspective by John Cali

Our perspective is everything, and it carries great power. Two people can be viewing the same event and come away with totally different, even opposite, experiences.

As I mentioned last week, we’re doing some major changes to our website, and it continues to take much of my time and energy. So once again this week we’re repeating an article we wrote quite a few years ago about the power of perspective.

Now Is Forever by John Cali

Many of us have trouble staying in the present moment. And yet, paradoxically, that’s all we have. The present moment — the now — is all there is.

Our video of the week features the song, Now, by Dave Carroll. The song is based on Eckhart Tolle’s popular book, The Power of Now.

We’re doing another major “facelift” to our website, and that’s taken a lot of my time and energy. So this week we’re repeating an article we wrote quite a few years ago, also about the subject of “now.”… Read more

Going with the Flow of Life by John Cali

I was brought up in the Judeo-Christian tradition, as I know many of you were. We were taught the only road to success was hard work through pain and struggle. I bought into that perspective for much of my life. But no more.

Here’s Spirit.

We talk with many humans struggling in so many aspects of their lives — work, relationships, health, even their spiritual paths. It does not have to be this way. As we’ve said many times, you certainly can grow through struggle and pain.… Read more

Reader Question: How Does the Changing Energy of This Time Affect Us Physically? by John Cali

A while back a reader asked us that question. Here’s her full question:

I do have a question. It is about the changing energy of this time and how it affects us physically. I have been reading quite a few blogs that say we may be feeling tired or less than our usual selves because of adjusting to the increasing energy/vibration of this year and I wasn’t sure how to think about it.

Are we (as Abraham sometimes says) making too much of all of this?… Read more

Reader Question: How Do We Know Our True Path? by John Cali

One of our readers recently asked us that question. Here’s his full question, which I’ve edited slightly:

“How do we know our true path? Our true spiritual teacher? Or who to follow?”

Here’s Spirit’s response.

This is a good question, one we’ve been asked many times over the years.

Reader Question: What Is the Right Way To Meditate? by John Cali

In response to our last article on meditation, we received a question from one of our readers.

Reader’s Question:

I would really like you to go more in-depth about meditation, John. I never know if I’m doing it “right.” The worst thing is I often fall asleep when meditating, and from what I’ve read, that’s not good. Could you describe a good way to practice it? Much appreciation, John.

My Response:

As I see it, there are no “right” or “wrong” ways to meditate.… Read more

The Heart of the Matter by John Cali

Medical research shows most heart attacks happen between 6:00 a.m. and noon, with Monday mornings being the most common time.

You don’t have to be a cardiologist to understand the research. As with so many other dis-eases, heart problems are often caused by stress. The first part of the day is the most stressful for many, as they contemplate all they have to do that day.

But why Monday mornings? Well, you could make a logical argument that since Mondays are the first day of most people’s work week, that’s the time of highest stress — especially if you hate your job.… Read more

How To Breathe by John Cali

Sounds like a silly title, doesn’t it? Breathing is the most natural process, requiring no conscious attention to it. But most of us don’t know how to breathe well. Nor do we know how to tap into the tremendous power of simple breathing.

My spirit guides often recommend conscious, deliberate breathing exercises, especially to those with anxiety, fear, and other similar issues.
