If God Is All-Powerful Why Does S/he Allow Suffering, Like Ebola? by John Cali and Spirit

Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it. ~ Helen Keller, 1880-1968

A couple days ago I read an interesting article about the Ebola crisis in Africa. The author was questioning how such suffering could exist if God is all-powerful.

Good question.

The “bottom line” here is God is NOT all-powerful. Does that shock you? It’s true.

God does not will humans to suffer, either deliberately or by neglect.… Read more

Our recent post, The Prayer of God, received some really nice comments from you, our dear readers. One of you asked if we had any more articles by the anonymous writer. Since then I’ve found several more.

We’re publishing one of those today. It’s similar in tone to The Prayer of God. I hope you’ll like it.

My work is done. Why wait? ~ Eastman Kodak founder George Eastman, in his suicide note written after long enduring intense pain from his degenerating spine.

George Eastman, 1854-1932George Eastman 1854-1932

You’ve probably heard about Brittany Maynard, the young woman with terminal brain cancer who decided to commit suicide earlier this week.

As I started writing this post my sister told me an elderly cousin, closing in on 100 years, had just died. She lived a good, long, and happy life.

Brittany, at the other end of the spectrum of life, was only 29.Read more

Boo! What Scares You? by Pat Ruppel

Zucca2It’s October and today we celebrate Halloween, where we see scary costumes, cornfield mazes and spooky ghost houses. It’s a fun time for kids and adults to let go and pretend.

It’s also the season when we’re more acceptable of the world of the paranormal. Perhaps we’re even open to tune in and listen for something beyond what we normally hear and see.

Our bodies feel the subtle energy shifts, as Nature begins to slumber. The trees drop their leaves and the plants die with the cold temperatures.… Read more

Today we’re featuring an article by my dear friend, Mary Ellen, aka “Angel Scribe.” She’s a talented writer and widely published in several different areas, including angels.… Read more

The past few weeks I’ve been going through my house as I get ready to move. I’ve come across many stored items I’d long forgotten about. Some I’m keeping, but most I’m releasing.

I’m well organized and keep my home neat and clean. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much lighter the energy of the house feels as I clear out what I no longer want or need.… Read more

We’ve all heard it said we create our own realities. But what exactly does that mean? And how do we do it?

Spirit

First, let’s start this discussion with who each of you really are. Or, more to the point, who you are not.

You are not:

  • Your body
  • Your mind
  • Your family identity
  • Your ethnic background
  • Your job, your profession
  • Father
  • Mother
  • Son
  • Daughter
  • And so on

You are not any of those labels you use to identify yourselves while you are in your physical bodies.… Read more

Have you ever read the book by John Steinbeck about his travels with his dog Charley, in search of the true America? I did many years ago, and remembering this it somehow triggered me to one day travel to the U.S. with my wife. I was also in search of promising and overwhelming landscapes, of people, animals, and the way of living, as well as anything that would come our way. The main reason, though, was to enter on a spiritual journey to the New World.Read more

Though she enjoyed them, they were disturbing to her. As she put it, “…what is bothering me now is that it (the film and books) is shaking my belief about what happens after we make our transition.”

Why not me? I knew there was a good reason for this unpleasant surprise. I knew it was something other than what it appeared to be.Read more
